Sometimes it comes after unequivocal proof of wrongdoing. Marion Jones, who essentially drafted the "deny, spin, accuse" playbook for high-profile athletes caught in doping cases, made a tearful apology in 2007 after admitting she had lied to federal investigators.

Probably because throughout the years that all of this has been going on it has turned into noise for him. Also along with the FACT that he has never once been asked to be interviewed by Feds let alone demanded despite the 2 year FDA/Feds investigation and all the previous Grand Jury testimonies.

Never a witch hunt then and solely concentrating on US Cycling but just happen to miss out the biggest cycling star US has produced.
