One of the problems with Govt is they try to protect everyone from themselves. It's extremely unfortunate, but it was an accident (at this point)... They mention helmets, but one of those wouldn't have made a difference here...
The junction where the accident took place was known to be dangerous long before the Olympics. The organisers were advised of the issues but failed to take any action. As for helmets, there is plenty of evidence to show they are not always beneficial. IMHO it should be up to the individual to decide if they want to wear one or not.

Goodbye?? HUH?? Did you say "Goodbye" to ME, Roland?
Evidently, from the judgeits, some folks didn't like you to say goodbye to me, Roland. Mighty strange... Now, why is that, I wonder?

I hope you're not a prophet, psychic, seer or voodoo-doll-stabbin' witch doctor, man. Because your sign-off post brought back sad memories of this:

I recall many years ago when after telling my 4-year old Daughter April a bedtime story she closed her eyes for her usual prayer and ended it with, "God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Granny and goodbye Grandpa."

I asked April, "Why did you say goodbye Grandpa?"

She innocently quipped, "I don't know Daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do."

I thought it was mighty strange that the very next day Grandpa died; but I soon passed it off as being a quirky coincidence.

Yet, A few months later I again was putting April to bed and listening to her pray. She ended it, "God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and goodbye Granny."

Lo and behold, the very next day Grandmother died.

"Holy Mary," I thought, "my daughter is a seer in contact with the spirit world or such."

Well, several weeks later, while April said her usual bedtime prayer, she shocked the hell out of me when she ended it by saying,

"God bless Mommy and GOODBYE DADDY!"

Needless to say, I tossed and turned and didn't sleep all night; I wearily got up at the alarm and draggedly dressed to go to my office. I was as nervous as a cat all day, and could not accomplish a damn thing. I just sat at my desk, glued to watching the clock and fidgitedly biting my nails to the bloody quick.

I felt safe in my office, and figured if I could just stay in office-limbo until the midnight hour then I would be okay. So instead of going home when my workday ended I stayed put. I drained the remains of a bottle of scotch while staring at the clock and jumping at every sound.

Finally, midnight arrived! I breathed a sigh of relief and cried "YES!" all the way home.
My wife awoke as I slipped into bed, wearied and reeking of booze. She asked, "Have you been drinking?" I managed to get out a yawn and a sleepy, "Uh-huh", in response.

She sat up asking, "What's the matter? What's bothering you?"

I said, "I can't talk about it now. I've just spent the worst day of my life."

She said, "HA! You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me...
This morning my tennis pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson!"

So, Roland; Please, PLEASE, don't ever say "GOODBYE" to me again!

Why do u cause me undue worry, Roland?

Now I must worry about how you will get on without me. On top of that I find u being very disobedient; for, I distinctly told you never to say 'goodbye' to me.

Now, Roland, curtsey for me please and say "Hello!"

Aww-rite-Aww-redy, Rollo, I can accept that, if you insist, HOWEVER!,,,
I can't get your wife to accept it.

Oh m'Dear,,,, What will we do,,,, What will we do?? And what will the neighbors do? Ya know, Rol, it's impossible to keep nosy neighbors at bay. Till now, I've kept them bayin' at the moon.

Please relent, Rollo,,,,,, for your wife's sake!

Now, Rollo, that revelation presents a distinct problemo. Your wife now is mad as hell that you've abandoned ownership of her.

where is she to go?,,,, what is she to do? Are you THAT heartless?

Uhh, Rolly, after she kills you, can I have your biKe? I understand that you have put special Vegas-designed playing cards to flap extra loudly against the spokes.
