THE VERDICT IN THIS CASE SICKENS ME. THESE MEN DESRVED TO BE JAILED FOR AT LEAST TEN YEARS. THOUGH THEY DID NOT MEAN TO KILL, THEY DID. THEY HAD NO REMORSE, THEY EVEN LAUGHED WHEN COMING OUT OF COURT. THIS IS SICK BRITAIN. AS REPORTED RECENTLY, BRITAIN IS DETERIORATING IN CRIME, EDUCATION AND SENSE. MAYBE THIS IS BECAUSE THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT ARE OUT OF ORDER THEMSELVES. THIS GOVERNMENT OF OURS ARE BECOMING DICTATORS. WE INVADE OTHER COUNTRIES TO INSTALL DEMOCRACY. YET WE HAVE LITTLE LEFT. THOUGH WE STILL HAVE FREE SPEACH, EVEN THIS IS BEING TAKEN FROM US. I THINK THAT THE JUDGES IN THIS CASE WERE RELUCTANT TO UPSET RELATIONS WITH BRITAIN BY JAILING THESE THREE KILLERS. AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT CYPRUS IS RELIANT UPON BRITISH TOURISM. THOUGH THE TOURISTS ARE JUST MANINLY SETS OF DRUNKS AND IDIOTS THAT CANNOT HANDLE THEIR BEER. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY THAT TRAGICALLY LOST THEIR CHILD TO THESE KILLERS. JUSTICE WAS NOT DONE IN THIS CASE. MAYBE IT WILL ASSIST THEM TO KNOW THAT THEY DO HAVE SUPPORT FROM MANY DECENT PEOPLE HERE IN THE U.K. EVEN IF THEY CANNOT RELY UPON THEIR OWN JUDICIAL SYSTEM FOR JUSTICE. THIS DEATH WILL BE ON THE CONCIENCES OF THESE KILLERS. THAT IS IF THEY HAVE A CONCIENCE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I have not seen a verdict but if they have been acquitted by the courts in the South and if they are guilty the problem with the legal system in the South. Innocent until proven guilty and in this case and jurisdiction they are not. It is an emotive subject but we can’t as laymen who have not heard all the evidence act as judge and jury in a democracy.

... agree with the disagreeing Greeks!
Or would you prefer it if they disagreed with the disagreeing Greeks?
But then some agreeing Greek will say exactly what you said.

I bet if a TC stubbed his cigerrete butt on the floor in the south, he would be charged for attempting to start an explosion.

Ask them how many Greeks were convicted of race hate crimes against TC's from 1960-74.

Its a big round ZERO.

In fact the killers, to this day, are hero worshipped.

I have just read the news in Cyprus Mail - The judges ruled a two to one verdict of innocent, stemmed from the fact that the state prosecution had failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Atkinson and Binnington had intended to commit the charges against them.

Therefore under the law they are innocent - case closed. Innocent until proven guilty in democratic society. Or do the GC's want guilty they show your innocent.

The one who was driving is still before the court so it looks like justice will be served as he has pleaded guilty.

Here we go again. They went to court and got found not quilty - innocent under the law. Or do you think that they should have been lynched without a trial?

There was a court case - evidence produced and a verdict given. So these 2 boys have been through due process and therefore in the eyes of the law they are innocent.

I didn't say I didn't have concerns about the family and made my comments as they are GC's. All I said is they have been found to be innocent so let the judgement stand.

There is somebody else there on trial who has indicated that he is guilty so he will be sentenced and punished for his crime.

My post was about if somebody is innocent they why shout about the verdict from a democratic court.

Thank god there are democratic courts in the south otherwise I am sure they would have been strung up by their bollocks before any trial.

These 2 boy are young and have been given there freedom as not quilty - they will learn from being in the car with the one who has pleaded guilty- or is it that they must be sentanced whatever as they are Brits.

It appears that there are double standards in GC as read todays Cyprus Mail about child porn and 17 year old:

"Although the penalty for possession and distribution of child pornography carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years imprisonment and/or £25,000 fine, it is possible the teen will be let off due to his age, police said.

“Investigators will continue to examine the case and to collect the evidence as it develops, putting together a file. The file will then be sent to the Attorney-general to decide how to proceed. Due to the boy’s age it is likely the case will not end up in court. If he were an adult, there would be no question of that,” the source said.

He as far as I am concerned should be put on trial also and let due process take over.

sorry again for misunderstanding your post kibris

You are another typically prejudiced neanderthal Greek!
Good job the decision made by Greek Cypriot judges, god only knows how you would have reacted if they had been found not guilty in a British court!

Some GCs are only happy when when everything is 100% in their favour otherwise they whinge and whine like spoilt children.

Well said. If there was no malicious intent the boys are innocent in the eyes of the law. Myabe not so morally. The driver of that car is the guilty party. As a mother, my heart goes out to the parents of the boy. He was hanging out with the wrong crowd.
As for the 17 year old, he should have his day in court. He is old enough to know what he did was wrong. Obviously he doesn't and this is another reason why he needs to hear it from the Judge and face the consequences of his actions. How else is he going to learn and go to rehab? If they excuse him now, he will do it again because by letting go he will get the impression he has done nothing illegal.

As far as I see it if they are over 16 they should be put on trial- In fact remember them 2 baby killers in UK both aged 12 -went on trial and got convicted.

I agree that system both in the North and South of Cyprus should be changes as the kids are truelly running wild as they know nothing will happen to them. Open bostals and young offenders institutes and fill them up. it may show the ones out of control the public have had it with them.

The are to many excuses here on the island - he is only a boy, he has learnt his lesson etc... Parents should not make excuses they should show some guidance and provide home home education. Let the kids rant and rave, stamp their feet. Just tell them get to your room and don't come out until you understand.
