Yet more delusory nonsense from these EU idiots.

Turkey will bust several guts and give up Cyprus to join a bankrupt and defunct club?

Blackadder,
Noone is forcing it to do that. It seems however that it wants it. If it does, than it needs to play by the book, as noone is going to make any exceptions. No amount of dissatisfactions, threats, stupid EU comments will change that.
2/3 of Turks want to join EU - you are a minority.

Its much more complicated than that im afraid and in some ways its even more complicated than the protracted cyprus saga.

IMO turkey placed a noose around her own neck with her eu ambitions.
the story begins in the early 80's when turkey made an official bid to join.the eu enlargement delegation had a look at turkeys credentials and what they saw drained their colour from their face.

the main problems were
1.their economy which was stagnant with hyper inflation of 150% annually
2.poor human rights and a near civil war just bellow its societys fabric
3.non democratic principles deeply enshrined in both its official and un official constitution
and the list goes on

because the elite of the eu wanted turkey in the eu for geostrategic interests(hence why turkey is playing hard to get and attempts to get in without transforming itself)

it was decided to tackle the main problems first.huge eu investment were made in turkey.euro industialists set up shop to create jobs and enhance turkeys economic credentials along with massive genereous loans that would normally not have been granted.
turkeys new economy didnt happen by chance but happened because of promises turkey made.

as time went on it became apparent to many why the eu enlargement commision wanted turkey in its ranks.

in the late 80's israel begun to float the idea of it joining the eu.and israel has many crypto supporters in the eu and america that want this also.its no chance that israel participates in euefa, eurovision and other european events.the climaticing of euro citizens is underway to warm them up to this idea.
now back to turkey.
turkeys geostrategic position is of vital importance as the architects want to geographically link israel with europe.why do you think the balkans were re mapped?
croatia is now in the eu,albania is a candidate along with serbia.
and syria is being blackmailed and threatened.
threatened by war and blackmailed by water restrictions.
have you ever wondered about the scale of turkeys eastern irrigational projects?,over 23 dams? new electricity grids as these assets are what israel needs to grow and israel and turkey have already signed protocols on this issue.they will be pumped through syria to israel

i wont go on to the finer intricacies but suffice to say that turkey made alot of promises and is in over her head.if turkey does not enter the eu then turkey will be paying a very high price.

there is a reason why israel is becomming friendly with a potential kurdistan, why staunch kemalist have hinted at a turkish taksim .

do not be so passae about turkey not needing the eu because you are not so invincible that the eu ,israel and america cannot dig your grave

Some of that is true, but what you miss is tbat there is zero incentive for Turkey to play the EU game, that does not want Turkey and an EU that itself is financially fcccuuukkd.

If those islamic revolutions spread across the arab/muslim world, I could well see some sort of islamic club, which given they control most of the world's oil supplies would fcccukk us all up.

Turkey is not as stupid, or powerless as many of us in the west would like to think.

Watch out for a new caliphate.

you are wrong about the zero incentives,

the initial incentives for turkey were economic,ie offer to join and receive what turkey has attained today.
the second incentive was to join so turkey could be on a political par with greece.imagine someday when europe will have a single european army that could be facing turkey if turkey isnt in the bloc.
furthermore greece and cyprus could use eu institutions against turkey.according to ankara the cypriots are doing this at the momment against turkey,
but the ultimate incentive for turkey to join is so the architects of the world dont destroy turkeys for their impedement of the architects interest.

turkey isnt a small or weak country and nor is it imortal.
they destroyed apartheit in south africa, brought down the soviet union, destroyed iraq, created israel, partitioned cyprus and will do much worse to turkey.

when i said they have geostrategic interests in turkey it meant they want turkeys position to exploit.wether there are turks or not in turkey it makes no difference to them i assure you.

there are many things they can do to discipline and or anhillate turkey.
-create a bloody civil war
-push you into open war with your neighbours
-collapse turkeys economy
and much more.
there are turkish politicians, generals, financier s,industrialist that take their orders from them and not from the turkish citizen

turkey is in greater peril than most of you realise.
