"Nothing succeeds like failure in imperial Washington. So while Washington's failed Cuba policy has endured for half a century, its proponents ask us to “give it time."
----------
By proponets does the author mean the rabid fascist extremist who have been political disasters for Miami like Ileana and Balart Brothers?

What a disaster the fascist Cuban Miami junta has been for Miami and Americas politics towards Cuba.
EVERYONE has lost with these people calling the shots.

What is unreal is that the Dems in Washington still allow these people to have so much input.

The only reason the dictatorship continues in power is because there is a powerful "someone" that benefits from this. Who it is I don't know. The World Bank? Or some other sinister organization with no scruples. Clearly, if the USA really wanted to, they could have easily removed that "wart" from our hemisphere.

That is true .
Could the Cuban politicians in Miami who have for the most part been self serving parasites who have done close to nothing for Cubans in Miami be behind this?

They would seem like those who benefit the most if Castro name stays in power. So they can continue screaming "Cuba libre" and thus certainly get reelected.

They have built their useless political lives around pointing at Cuba. You have made a great point.

i feel even if u.s. desired better relations with cuba we are still somewhat restricted because of cuba's cerdit worthiness and the world bank playing a bigger role in government affairs, but this has never stopped Cuba and it probably never will

You said it!!!USA lost interest in Cuba a long time ago. If someone knows Castro real well is.... USA. This country have taken the actions that benefits americans, knowing exactly with "who" are they dealing with..a Communist country, own by assesins and the worst dictators of our time. It didn't worked for the CASTROS,? that was exactly the idea. What USA never really expected was the inability of 11 milion cubans to protest and figths for their freedom and rigths...(incredible)Something that have never being seen before,(in Iran people show their discontent) to this date. Today 50 years after, some cubans even under the embargo have tried to show the cuban gov. the inhuman way of their lives and are protesting. Cuba and Communist living in this country can not tell the rest of americans to sell america's soul to Castro.

A well known author speaks of Cuba. I imagine the people there do not want change.
"When Castro first took office, the economy was a mess. Soviet Union relations were shaky. Castro blamed them for selling him faulty equipment when in turn the peasants had no idea how to use the equipment, so it just rotted away (Draper 182). Castro, however, turned this into a victory and the peasants learned how to use the machines that helped the Soviet Union industrialize. Castro even had the problem of the workers relying too much on the imported raw materials, which cost a lot of money that the government did not have especially when the sugar crops kept failing. Castro tried instating the Institute for Agrarian Reform, which made the peasants OVERJOYED"

Howdy 'RaTaFuks'...how are you doing tonight?. Care for some young cow(Veal) Carpaccio?. Raw bloody cow meat is really nutritious! Here is my own recipe. Enjoy my friend!

Cheokee's very own Veal Carpaccio: A Raw Meat Salad

Posted by: Cherokee
Skill Level: Easy
Prep Time: 20 min
Makes Servings: 4
Category: Veal Recipes
This is a typical Italian meat dish, perfect for a brunch or a quick meal. It is very simple and does not require cooking. In fact, the meat is raw.
Ingredients
1 lb veal meat cut in extremely thin slices
1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 of a lemon
Salt
Parmesan cheese
Directions
1.Spread the slices of raw meat evenly over a wide tray
2.Pour the oil in a cup, add the juice of half a lemon and some salt
3.Mix very well
4.Spread the oil on top of the meat (use a spoon to spread it all over)
5.Let it sit for 10-15 minutes
6.Sprinkle with plenty of roughly grated parmesan cheese just before serving

Howdy 'RATaFUKS,I bet you'll find this recipe yummy...yummy!

Chopped RAW beef, or Carne Cruda:
In other parts of the world finely minced raw beef is called steak tartare, and they crack an egg into it. In Piemonte they don't, preferring lemon juice and olive oil, and you should try this even if you think you don't like raw meat, as it can be a rare treat indeed.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
•A pound of top quality feef fillet
•The juice of 2 lemons
•Two cloves garlic, crushed flat
•Salt and pepper
•A white truffle (optional)
•A rinsed, boned and minced salted anchovy (optional)
Preparation:
Continuing with the introduction, The quality of the meat is of course paramount to the success of the dish, and, considering the horrid bugs that occasionally strike those who use commercially slaughtered meats, selecting it properly is very important. You want a thick, whole piece of beef filet. Filet because it's tender enough, and whole because the bacteria that can cause food poisoning can't penetrate a whole piece of meat -- they stay on the surface. When you get it home, quickly sear it on all sides -- you're just killing whatever's on the surface, not cooking the meat. Then remove it from the flames, trim away the seared sections, and you're ready to proceed.

Chop the meat very finely with a long-bladed knife. Don't use a grinder, because the texture will suffer.

Put the meat in a bowl and mix the lemon juice into it, together with the garlic, and season abundantly with olive oil (as much as the lemon juice or perhaps more), salt and pepper. If you are using the anchovy add it now.

Let the meat sit only for 10 minutes -- the longer it sits the more the pinkness will fade so let it sit for a very short time, as the lemon juice cooks the meat. Purists prefer shorter sitting times. In any case, once it has sat, mix it again, removing the garlic when you do, put it on a serving dish, dot it with finely shaved truffle if you're using it, and serve it as an antipasto. Some people also serve it with tiny pickles, and others dot it with thinly sliced wild mushrooms if they don't have a truffle.
