<quoted text>I never said I supported Castro, plant life. I simply stated why he went toward the USSR rather than us. We supported Batista because we wanted no communism in that region. Instead we brought it right next door.
One more thing, cabbage-brain. I can't be insulted by someone who needs watering twice a day.
Talking about ignorant cabbage- brains;have you ever read about Castro's letters, while in the Sierra Maestra, to Celia Sanchez (I bet you don't even know who Celia Sanchez was),in which he told Celia that his real enemy was the USA???Did you know that the USA counsol in Santiago de Cuba and even the CIA helped Castro while he was in Sierra Maestra?
Ignorance is daring. Its incredible to see so many ignorants of Cuba History dare to talk so much nonsenses. PLEASE!!
Btw George... Why don 't you use your real avatar and have the need to use monikers ir other people avatars? You are sick George; just take your meds and go back to your mental institution cell!!!!

Unfortunately not much.Perhaps if both the Castro are killed or die of natural causes. They have developed the perfect dictatorship.Com munism is a different animal which is not easy to overtriow ,it took the Russians 72 years and the change came from within the system.
I really don't know, but ai know lifting the Embargo is not a solution,it will only make Castro and his collies richer!!
What Lawrence Wolf said about Batista is completely correct.

Batista was essentially a US puppet and Havana was a Mafia style Disney World a US party resort where most people lived in poverty. Castro's revolutionaries rebelled against this corruption while the US continued to support Batista, so Castro turned to the USSR for his support. That gave the USSR a base of influence just offshore from Florida.

We definitely don't need another US puppet dictator in Cuba, but we need to support the cause of self-government in Cuba. Lifting the embargo would open a door to help enable that effort. We need to show friendship to the Cuban people and willingness to negotiate with the Cuban government.

I'm not suggesting we pander to the Castro regime, but we need to open discussion. I believe lifting the embargo would help that happen.

I wish the US could at least make a deal with the Cuban
government to start bringing over some of the
thousands of vintage automobiles they drive around in on that
island. There's a gold mine there.

If only they posted truths , as opposed to all their left wing mis-information. I grew up in the USA and feel very American, however, I was born in Cuba, I remember what happened firsthand, and I give thanks to GOD that I was born there and am not one of these illiterate, uninformed, misinformed pseudoacademics that think they know it all, and speak with with so much expertise about what they know nothing about. Or perhaps they do know and want to lead the uninform public astray with mis-information and mis-direction. Anything, anything can be expected from these nefarious commienazis.

Get rid of the ridiculous blockade and bring in some good Cuban cigars and rum. Europeans have been enjoying Cuba for decades and it's a great bargain vacation spot.Americans should be able to enjoy it too! The cold war is over!!

Well.....I am listening and trying to learn the real story. I am trying to figure our WHY most Cuban-Americans are Republicans? It looks like Hillary-Castro........will run against Jeb-Marco. I think Florida will go Blue in 2014.......and back to Red in 2016. We do need to get Rick Scott OUT! As far as Castro for VP......most Mexican-American are Democrats. It will be interesting. I read this site because my SIL talks Cuban politics with me. I want to better understand.
