What has the U.S., gained by the use of this long-lasting embargo on Cuba? The only thing it has done is to give President Castro, the opportunity to find other countries to supply the needs of his citizens. These needs could have been met by United States businesses with ease.
I know that there are many American companies' that have been allowed to supply Cuba,(Secretly). Even questions forwarded to the US Government's, "Freedom of Information Department", have not been answered, regarding names of these SECRET SUPPLIERS. If they are answered, the names are all blanked out. I guess there are 2 sets of laws regarding who can, or who can't, be a friend of the government officials who control goods shipped to Cuba. If you want to find out what the names of these companies,("who the friends of the US officials are"), contact the Cuban Government and they will gladly supply their names.
I really like the fairness of the U.S. Government, don't you? Who controls these things - is it Congress? Do they know that this nonsense even exists? Why don't you ask them!
Keep up the good work US.

This controversy is not going away and will continue to dominate the headlines, soak up the political oxygen and make it increasingly difficult for Obama to recapture the momentum.

Romney could use some sharpening on foreign policy to put Obama away next Monday, although each debate is of less significance. Romney would do well to simply recite the timeline to viewers, making clear the president was either dissembling or out of the intelligence loop (which quickly discarded the spontaneous video protest theory because, of course, there never was a protest).

Romney was entirely on the mark on one count: Libya is indicative of a failed Middle East policy in which Obama has repeatedly misjudged our enemies, kicked our friend Israel and left the United States less influential than ever.(“Look what’s happening in Syria, in Egypt, now in Libya. Consider the distance between ourselves and Israel, where the president said that — that he was going to put daylight between us and Israel. We have Iran four years closer to a nuclear bomb. Syria — Syria’s not just the tragedy of 30,000 civilians being killed by a military, but also a strategic — strategically significant player for America. The president’s policies throughout the Middle East began with an apology tour and pursue a strategy of leading from behind, and this strategy is unraveling before our very eyes.”) Not even Candy Crowley can fudge that.

US Male; I have a completely different take on why President Obama wants to distance the USA from Israel's decision to attack Iran,(which would then require US involvement). Mr. Obama knows about the new weapons that Iran has developed, which are far superior to anything that the US currently possesses. A smart person does not start a battle that he can't possibly win, and the President is actually protecting the US military from the immense loss of life that would ensue to American troops and support personnel. You people are lucky that you have a President who is up-to-speed on these matters. If Israel wants to start a war with Iran, let them, just keep an eye on the results. You will then see why President Obama wanted to, "distance himself from Israel". I know that this information will cause disbelief amongst the Military Lobyists, who make their living by selling guns, ammo, drones, planes etc.. But, do you think that they care about anything but the sale of the tools of war to the US Government,(which you, the taxpayers' eventually pay for) if you are able to,(before your country goes bankrupt from paying off the 16-trillion-dollar deficit caused by all the other "wars" you have started around the globe).

Mylady, I disaggree with you, but if perchance you be correct, then oblamer should have invested in starwar tech. THE USA is obligated to remain Nº 1 in military advantage! You cannot allow those muslim troglodites to get an upperhand, that is plain reckless & foolish, mylady!

US Male; What cost are you willing to pay for supremacy? Are you willing to bankrupt the US just so you can wave the American Flag around the world? Wouldn't it be more prudent to STAY OUT OF WARS for a while, save the money that wars costs, and spend only a small portion of the money that was saved, on extremely efficient, new, weapon design. Take the time to observe what is out there by watching the wars that the UK, Israel, the Soviet Union, and others waste their money on, and what new technologies surface.
Dr. Keshe of Iran,(operating the Keshe Foundation, in Belgium) has discovered a new propulsion (power) source that was offered to the whole world to take advantage of. The US was offered a chance to examine this discovery and they immediately chastised Dr. Keshe's inventions and declared anyone who had anything to do with this power source was a terrorist, and an enemy of the U.S.A. The reason for this drastic move was because, the US HAD NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE POWER AND TECHNOLOGY OF THIS SYSTEM. This is the technology that Iran has, and is able to use, to protect itself, or deploy against any country that attacks its sovereign territory.
This is why President Obama is distancing the U.S., from Israel's aspirations of attacking Iran. If Israel follows through with its threat, keep your eyes on what transpires.
President Obama is no fool, you are lucky to have his calm, measured, reasoning power, at work for you at this dangerous time in the world's unstable situation.
