Originally, the Serbs were Catholics until the 12th century. So, why not allow the Pope to visit city of Nissa(Nis) where famous Roman Constantine was born who gave freedom to Christians in 313 AD. It will be very appropriate for the SOC, and the Serbs in general to have the Holy Father on their soil. That will boost Serbia both spiritually and diplomaticly in the world arena. I hope that the Serbian Orthodx Church leaders understand this. That papal visit will be for their great advantage in every sense. Go fo it, Serbia!

Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country in Central Europe and Southeastern Europe at the crossroads of the Pannonian Plain, the Balkans, and the Adriatic Sea. Its capital and largest city is Zagreb. Croatia borders Slovenia to the north, Hungary to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast.

The Croats arrived in the early 7th century in what today is Croatia. They organized the state into two dukedoms. The first king, King Tomislav was crowned in AD 925 and Croatia was elevated into the status of a kingdom. The Kingdom of Croatia retained its sovereignty for almost two centuries, reaching its peak during the rule of Kings Peter Krešimir IV and Demetrius Zvonimir. Croatia entered a union with Hungary in 1102. In 1527, the Croatian Parliament elected Ferdinand from the House of Habsburg to the Croatian throne. In 1918, Croatia was included in the short-lived State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs that declared independence from Austria–Hungary and co-founded the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. An independent Croatian state briefly existed during World War II. After World War II, Croatia became a founding member of the Second Yugoslavia.

croatia is a country built on a genocide (1991-20??)
before that time, no one ever heard about croatia nor couldn't find it on the world map. It was unrecognized no existing country.

vatican with the help of the west created a new state in the world called croatia, spreading catholic faith all over the country, a country, whose people were once Orthodox Christians.

It is amazing that you are so misinformed about your own Serbian past. The Orthodox Christianity came with the split between Roma and Constantinople in the 12th century. Read history!!! You are simply sick Serb from Subotica, Vojvodina-former Austrian and Hungarian territory. Even now, Vojvodina is a separate entity within the border of Serbia. It has its own diplomatic representative in Brussels. Read history!!! Get out of your stupid myths from the Middle Ages!

Serbia has full Vatican diplomatic recognition like all other countries in the world. Croatia is an old country which traces its origin to the 7th century. Read history!!! It will be much easier to have the entire globe one faith instead of all these strange and many man made religions. The Orthodox religion is very close to the Catholic religion. Translate the word"Orthodox" from Greek and you will see what it means. Also translate word"Catholic" from Greek and you will see what it means. Both words are of Greek origin. The word'orthodox' is not of Serbian origin-it is of Greek origin. Study languages!!! You 'smart" Serbs from Subotica, Vojvodina.

Before we became what we are today we were Pagans, just like every other nation on Earth before they met Christianity and islam. We were Pagans and now we're Orthodox Christians. Never, and I say never in our history we were catholic nor had any ties with that Church. In the religious race here Orthodox were faster than vatican, and so Serbia was influenced by Orthodoxy. So you don't have to teach me my history you albanian scumbag- you who changed two religions for a piece of bread and your ass intact

No, no. Our Churches are more distant than we thought. We don't celebrate holidays in the same day. We don't have same views on the world. You catholics supported nazism and NWO while we fought against it. Look at you, even others distanced themselves from you- we wouldn't have Prostestant Church as well today wouldn't we?
catholicism is evil

Did you know how we Serbs, Russian, Ukrainians and Belarussian say Orthodoxy in our language?

Pravoslavna/Pravoslavnaya, which means "true faith, right one" That's because Orthodoxy is the only true Christian religion. You catholics are evil satanists

Yes, many nations were pagans in the beginning. However, Constantinople and Rome were working together until 1054, when the Orthodoxy started. Prior to that the Serbs were Catholic. And you Subotica Serb needs to study your own history. Who started the Orthodoxy? It did not fall out of the blue skies! In 1219, St. Sava was consecrated the first Archbishop of a self-governing Serbian Orthodox Church by the Patriarch of Constantinople.then residing in Nicaea. The Serian Patriarchate was established in Pec in 1346 and recognized by Constantinople in 1375. The Serbs were defeated by the Ottomans in 1389 and as a result were sepressed by the Turks in every way. The original bishop were greeks until 1830 when was established first autonomous Orthodox metropolia in Belgrade. In 1878-"the Nazi" Berlin Congress recognized Serbia as an independent state, and in 1879 the Patriarchate of Constantinople recognized Serbian church as autocephalous for the first time. So, you Subotica Serb can learn something from history books! The same "Nazi" Germany recognized Croatia in 1991 as an independent state. Why not???

You, Subotica Serb are really sick, to say the least. Croatia existed before in history. Read history! Serbia existed before. Read history. Croatia, like Serbia, and like other countries in the world has very right to selfdetermination in these modern times. Croatians and Serbians are not the same people. Croatia is not built on genocide. If we follow your logic, then Serbia was also built on genocide. You are simply dumb! Serbia was on the world map either. Serbia was part first of royal Yugoslavia, and after 1945, Serbia was part of communist Yugoslavia. What are you talking about. Serbia was in the same situation as well as other countries in southern Europe. Yugoslavia means south Slavic peoples. See the plural of this word. Not one people, but rather many south Slovic peoples-Slovenians, Croatians, Montenegrians, Serbians, and Macedonians. Do not spread your Serbian poison from Subotica, Vojvodina to the rest of the world. Stop that nonsense!!!

To analize this and to properly and intelligently explain this you praticly need a history book. You simply rattle your halftruths and some lies. Celebrating certain feast according to one or another calendar is simply secondary. Depends which calendar we follow. It is siply stupid. The Jews have their own calendar. Are they stupid? No! That is their tradition. External things are of secondary nature, not the primary one. Orthodoxy came only, and I repeat only after 1045 when Rome and Constantinople split-NOT BEFORE. Islam came in the 7th century-NOT BEFORE. Protestantism came in the 15th century-NOT BEFORE. The word catholic comes from Greek language and it simply means universal, which comes from Latin language, and it means intended for all peoples and nations-you dumb Serb from Subotica, Vojvodina. CLEAR!!!

Did some Orthodox Christians existed in Croatia? The answer is-Yes. How did they come there? Again! Dring the Austro-Hungarian Empire. And they came from Serbia. They were used as a military border against the Ottomans. Croatia from the 641 AD until now 2011 was and is mostly Catholic country and nation. Either you like that or not, that is the fact. Stop spreading your lies and fictions to the rest of the world. Keep your myths for yourself in Subotica, Vojvodina.

Yes, that individual from Subotica, Vojvodina is a child to say the least. Again, what former USA president Reagan would say: lies. That is what this person is doing: spreading his lies-as usual. What else is new in some 'hot Serb heads'? Serbia like Croatia during WWII was in a very difficult situation. It will take books and objective historians to analize all these historical facts. Croatia in 1941 wanted the same as in 1991-freedon, democracy, liberty, and selfdetermination. Croatia did not want to be a slave of serbia and Serbian politicians. Period!!! Simple as that!
