Only visitors from third world countries would be happy with the overall surroundings in Lauderhill. A massive turnout of 600 cheering mainly for the Caribbean team.
Thank you Broward County Commission for spending $70 million dollars so that 600 people and 4 visiting teams from other countries could play cricket in Lauderhill. What a joke! It would be funny if it were not so tragic.

Gee, they could have given $100,000 to each person that showed up and saved $10,000,000 to boot.

This stadium is a pathetic example of the local government pandering to minority interests.

Let's approve the next round of property tax cuts... when the local municipalities complain that they don't have enough money, we will point to this stadium.

to think they could have had the Marlins their with the 70million. At least the marlins draw average attendances of 10-11 k a game.

Unfortunately, we don't have $400 million to put a dome on a cricket field," said Nino DiLoreto, vice president of tournament host Cricket Council U.S.A.

Don't worry Nino, the county commissioners will change that.$400 mil is no problem when special interests are at play in Broward.

I'm sooo glad the county built a 5,000-seat stadium so 600 people could watch a Caribbean cricket match...

Just another $70 million boondoggle for us lowly taxpayers....

70 MILLION DOLLARS and 600 fans! Maybe the county commisioners can spend more tax payers money and fly some islanders in for the events. Time for change lets get rid of these commisioners, and have new people in place!

they should have spent the money expanding the skeet/trap and pistol/rifle ranges at Markham...now there's a line every weekend when I go to hone my skills. On any given weekend day there's more than 600 people at Markham.

That would be money well spent.
Instead our goverment wants to force diversity on us! How bout allowing the free market determine if cricket is a viable market in South Florida.

God bless all those who attended the Cricket event. I would have imagined that more people would have attended the event. I for one welcome the diversity the can be brought to S. Florida. We need more events like this so we all can come together and live a peaceable life here in S. Florida. So if they want to build a Cricket facility with a roof I am all for it.

Pretty funy. You know that 10X as many people (6000) attended a Cartoon convention over the weekend.

I guess it wasn't the bad weather that kept cricket fans away from the opening after all. Its just that no one cares about this stupid game. What a waste.

Are you too stupid to understand that DIVERSITY does NOT bring anybody together? It creates hyphe-nations. The West Indies -Caribbean-Quasi-Americans had a Cricket Tournament. Real Americans don't give a rats-ass about Cricket, or the wogs it attracts. So you are left with a 95% empty stadium of black hide gniggers paid for by taxpayers. If people want to be West Indies-Caribbeans they could have stayed out there and been salt water gniggers in Trinidad-Tobago. Its segregation, you fool. The dumbest one of us knows it. Oh, God is an NFL fan. He HATES Cricket, and all who go to watch it.Vote Democrat, eat goat meat and Ackee. Be diverse.<quoted text>
I will pray for you and what you call a brain. If they gave your brain to a bird it would fly backwards. Also the people from the eastern Caribbean are proud and hard working people. If they want to play cricket it is their choice. Also I happen to watch cricket matches.

$70 million for a cricket stadium. I thought long and hard and could not find better uses for the money.
Congratulations to Broward County for being so forward-thinking.
Too bad, because the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the ill, the people without health insurance sure couldn't use those funds.
You think maybe we have our priorities screwed up a bit.

I am thinking of going to the county with a proposal for the biggest and fanciest ping-pong arena. I figure more people play ping-pong than cricket. 140 million sounds resonable, who's with me?

Hey, that's only $100,000 PLUS per spectator. What a great job by the Broward County Board of Criminals.
