What is going on down in Puerto Limon, I haven't been there in years but I am hearing all sorts of not so nice things with the influx of people from surrounding areas coming in and making Puerto Limon their home. I hear that they are also making a lot of trouble and the government isn't doing much about it. Give me some feedback, please.

Let's just be honest. A large influx of Black Colombians are easily blending in with the Black Costa Rican in Puerto Limon. They go there to flood the town with drugs and violence. They have put so much fear in the town and country, that even the police is afraid of them. Limon is a poor town with little political or police strength. Cleaning up Puerto Limon of drugs and crime is not a priority for the Costa Rican government. Limon is a probably is the most important points and ports of arrival. It could also be the most beatiful if the government really cared. Puerto Limon received 72 million dollars from the world government. I doubt if much of that money will stay go to Puerto Limon. It will probably end up in the hands of the corrupt politicians in San Jose and the Pacific. Nobody cares about Puerto Limon. I hope I'm wrong.

I have heard so many stories about what is going on in Limon, it makes you want to cry. So many young lives lost, so many people going into prison, albeit not for long because Costa Rica's laws are way too lenient. I have said over and over again, the only way to make the government take you seriously it to hit them where it hurts, in the pocket, in the wallet, in the purse. Hold back taxes, block roads, they can arrest one but not all or most. Most of the people in the town would have to be of one accord. Instead of four individual fingers and on thumb it should be one fist. The problem would be if people were even trying to get together to make something happen, there will always be one or two in the crowd that you would have to fear giving you up. Leaking to the government what the plans are or telling the colombians what is going on. Let's face it, at this point it isn't just the Colombians, it is also many young boys native to Limon. |
