There is no excuse for having any alcohol in your system while on duty driving a bus with children aboard. It seems to me that she might have been doing this on a regular basis. Thank God nobody was hurt or even killed. This is a serious matter and should be dealt with in a serious manner. I have a grandchild that rides a bus and I put my trust in the driver of that bus to bring my grandson home safe and sound. That is a huge responsibility and I respect the professionals that do this on a daily basis.
While I agree with you 100%, there's always a chance of some sort of irresponsibility when you have to put trust in others....like a bus driver! Such is life, I guess.

As the old adage goes...."If you want something done right, Do it yourself".

Sad as it is, the only way to avoid this entirely, regardless of checks by the schools, is to drive the grandkids to school yourself. Sorry. The good news is there's still a better chance of your grandkids choking on a toy than being killed in a school bus accident. My point is that school busses are a VERY safe form of transportation!

And, God Forbid they were your children....would you feel the same way?
Absolutely. While your kids are partying in the back of the bus with our kids the driver is the only one who needs a drink.

If she worked in Greece, she probably wouldn't have been charged with child endangerment. They can dump a four year old off anywhere but their home, and still keep their jobs...
Whether DWI charges are 'pending', that should've been a no-brainer. She was driving children around just before she tested positive...why WASN'T she carted off to jail immediately? The police should have been notified, and a field sobriety test should have been administered.
Did the district transportation department call her a cab? Or, did they just test her and let her drive herself home too?

This is in RUSH., it has nothing to do with the "City"!!!
Why does everyone always want to link the City with type of crimes or trouble???

Mr Skeptical, in fact statistically, children transported in a school bus are far safer than those driven to school in a car. Far more children are killed in car accidents on their way to school than in a school bus.

Another fact, most school bus fatalities happen OUTSIDE the bus, not in a crash. Generally, if a bus does get into a crash, guess who wins, the bus... unless the bus is in a crash with a semi or a train!

So we shouldn't worry about the smaller cars she might plow into? Does that give her a good excuse to drive drunk? Sadly she might "win" in an accident with a smaller car. We need to ask about the "losers" in the smaller cars and if they deserve to die in an accident. These are tough questions the residents of Yates County need to ask themselves.

You need a brain to drive a bus and the district obviously trusted her to have all the skills necessary to operate a bus in a safe and efficient manner. Let us be also trusted as intelligent citizens and remain objective about this as we can. The weather has been brisk these past few days and it is possible she took some cough or cold medicine just before her random drug and alcohol test. It is possible.
Maybe up in Canada where you are. But in in that part of NY it's full of drunken trailer people. Make no mistake. Look at her picture!
