You need a brain to drive a bus and the district obviously trusted her to have all the skills necessary to operate a bus in a safe and efficient manner. Let us be also trusted as intelligent citizens and remain objective about this as we can. The weather has been brisk these past few days and it is possible she took some cough or cold medicine just before her random drug and alcohol test. It is possible.

Let's see here now. We've got the school bus driver transporting our children under the influence of alcohol; we've had the Rush Henrietta school teacher along with her husband bilking thousands of dollars from an elderly woman. What is this world coming to? Who can we trust? What a darn shame!

Sassy, OBVIOUSLY they test their drivers, duh! How do you think they discovered she had alcohol in her system? sheesh!

I'm a school bus driver. We are highly trained (at least in our district), and randomly tested.

Personally, I love my kids, and do NOT consider them brats, even when they are occasionally naughty. Good thing semper fi chose another profession

It never ceases to amaze me that people will defend drunk drivers. would you be defending her had she killed those kids? she resigned her job, therefore she must have been guilty of being under the influence of alcohol, I am sure she would have refused resignation had she not been guilty. children look to adults to protect them, nlot to put them in danger. hopefully, the judicial system will make her responsible for her actions

Well, her BAC (Blood alcohol content) level would not be high enough to register on a test from taking an ounce of cold medicine. If she happened to rinse with Scope or Listerine just before the test, that would have dissipated within 10 minutes. They always wait 10-20 minutes before administering a breath test for this reason. I am curious about her BAC level though. Maybe she was like a .02 (1 drink)...which, although is NOT OK, is certainly not a big deal in my book, either. I need more info to consider how bad this really was.

My guess is that she stopped at the bar between bus runs. That's about as stupid as it comes.

Stupid is as stupid does!

There is no excuse for having any alcohol in your system while on duty driving a bus with children aboard. It seems to me that she might have been doing this on a regular basis. Thank God nobody was hurt or even killed. This is a serious matter and should be dealt with in a serious manner. I have a grandchild that rides a bus and I put my trust in the driver of that bus to bring my grandson home safe and sound. That is a huge responsibility and I respect the professionals that do this on a daily basis.

Boy oh boy. What the heck was this lady thinking? I don't care if she had a sip of her buddies beer watching baseball. This lady should be hung up to dry out. I have two little girls that ride a bus. I tell ya what if it was my girls. I'd have a hell of a lawyer beetin on her door. I can agree with Mr. Skep but when she is trusted to drive children to and from school. I don't care what her BAC was. She should be slapped with a felony and her CDL revoved to never drive a bus again.

Supposedly her BAC was well over the legal limit, well over .08 . She is an alcoholic, has been for a long time. Which of course raises the question, why was she allowed to drive still? Supposedly she went to rehab, but it didn't help.
Trust me, it was not cold medicine in her system, it was gin or vodka.
As for the other bus drivers of this district, they are well trained professionals that have more brains than the teachers at that school. Literally. I am an alumni of MW and had a great experience there, graduated 13 years ago, but it certainly seems to have gone downhill. Teachers can't figure out how to evacuate children, took them 45 minutes to gets kids out of the school when there was a bomb threat. Seriously.
