Thats one of the big reasons they are giving Our Chief Granato a hard time. He wants drug testing the Poilce Union says NO. He probably knows exactly where the problems lie in his department, and can't do a blessed thing about it.

Especially when most employers require it. They are no different. It is like they are above the law.

Granado is one of the biggest criminals in yakima. As far as drug testing for police, they can be tested anytime, right now so what's the difference.

Drug test all city employees, including the managers. Maybe it would stop some of the use of illegal drugs that is taking place now.

.08 BAL is approximately 1 beer for 170lb person 15 minutes after consumption. About .06 20 minutes after consumption. So rough order of magnitude, the officer may have had say 3 beers? Not sure that qualifies as abuse.

I do agree that the Yakima City and County Officers should be drug tested. City is not however because of their Union. I am unsure of County at the time. Anyways, I happen to know this officer personally. This person is very responsible and has been very influencial on the community. It was just one of those times where it was not this persons day and they happened to get caught. I am sure everyone has had a day like that. Don't judge them all because of this persons mistake. Don't get me wrong though, there are some "not so good cops" out there. Don't loose faith in this "good cop". This one can help make a difference and they need all the support we can give them.

I am not sure if she was bailed out or not but have you ever drank alcohol and then drove? She is trying to show the community that she made a mistake. At least she is admitting to it and not trying to get out the easy way. She is paying for it and doing the right thing. If you do get a DUI for the first time there are ways of getting out of the jail time whether you are a cop or not. For instance, I know some one that pleaded out with 2 years of probation and rehab with a reckless instead of getting a DUI. I do agree with do the crime and do the time. That is they only way some people ever learn.

ya, I barely blew over 0.08 and got a DUI. They treat you horribly, put you on probation, give you jail time and suspend your license. My step father is a police officer and I watched him and his buddies drink and drive all the time. Then they pull someone over the very next day and treat them like crap. If your prepared to ruin someones life because of a one time mistake, then the least you are expected to do is not be a hypocrite.

Got caught? I always thought they let each other go? You know behind the scene kind of thing. Like the german on hogan's heros. "I hear nothing", I see nothing". I believe the cops drink and drive and use drugs. Mmmmm where do they get their drugs? I wonder could it be from gang member friends? Blue and Red. You know on the slide or on the take? Your guess is as good as mine. I hope there is no retaliation on this e-mail. I only speak the truth and the truth is good in all places and at all times. UNLESS your a

Screw that, why not give them polygraphs to see if they have been lying in their courtroom testimony.

Three beers, 170 lb male, over 15 minutes =.068

Three beers, 170 lb male, over 30 minutes =.063

Actually, if person was to be charged with the accusation of DUI, that person could start out by pleading not guilty and making the state prove its DUI allegation. That would be where a person should start out and it is the accused right to due process that makes it so.

I challenged my DUI accusers and eventually my case was dismissed without me ever stepping a foot in a courtroom. Although I do not condone drinking and driving, this is what I did;

After being pulled over for a bogus and fabricated reason, I chose to invoke my rights by;

1) refusing field sobriety tests,

2) refusing the non-evidentiary Portable Breath Test,

3) refusing to answer questions regarding alcohol use,

4) refusing to make written statements regarding alcohol use,

5) retaining a top notch DUI attorney to contest my case.

That is where you start your case, not pleading guilty. You make them earn their conviction by proving it.
