Wouldn't surprise me if they were the root cause of the Toyota problem. Their moto is, "sweep the parts in a box and get them out the door." Been there and done that as have many in Wytheville.

I worked there for a while too. The way they treated their emplyees was poor! Our motto was,"he's watching you". Employees know who I am talking about.

Worked there myself for a while. My opinion is that it is a Japanese / German joint venture with the purse strings being controlled from Brewer, Maine and they are trying to run it in little ole Wytheville, VA. It is a complete recipe for a wreck.

The last plant manager they had was a yankee idiot and they finally cut loose that other biscuit eating fool from WV so he could go to truck driving school and hopefully learn something. Just hope that his bread truck rote don't bring him back thru Wytheville.

I worked at wti, and the japanese don't have a clue how to run an american factory! that includes the americans who wish they were japanese (PA)!

sounds like a bunch of lazy employees that want the check at the end of the week but don't want to do any work for it.

Hoover is correct in what he said. I was a salaried employee there and could not stand the place. It's a power struggle between 4 different groups of people and none of them want to work together.

Time will tell if they can make it but I wouldn't bet on it. Too easy to move all of that junk (equipment) to somewhere greener and warmer or closer to the car plants.

The best employees left both companies a long time ago. Thank goodness there is one less Japanese person there now.

Who ever drew the short straw and became plant manager must be in trouble now. They have an opening for a production control manager so he is looking to get a scape goat in between him and the Japanese and Maine yanks.

They will probably have to import someone from far away to be the fall guy while the rest of the office dead beats lay back and whisper and giggle behide their backs.

I bet the ones who are running thier mouths about management are the the same ones who were turned down for the job.Or are you some of the dead beats that lost your job during the layoffs?

What's wrong BeeBee, are your feelings hurt? are you one of the managers that would have sold out his own family to the japanese? Be loyal to the Americans for goodness sakes.

Well said Martin.

As for me, I was a salaried employee. I stayed 2 months and thought it was the most miserable place I have ever seen. I went in one Friday morning and told the Plant Manager, so long. I never looked in the rear view mirror on the way out of the driveway. The Plant Manager left shortly there after. Right after he used up 3 or 4 others under him. He fell on his own sword, so to speak.

The person that is "it" now left Hutchinson to go there. Talk about jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!

My feeling aren't hurt.I still have a job.As for being loyal to america. When my last american job went to Mexico that pretty much did it for me.And I drive a japanese car because my last chevrolet was a piece of junk.
Last salaried employee at WT was shown the door.
Maybe Bev is not a girl.

Didn't work for WT. It was Brewer and I left on my own for more money and less headache. So you are wrong....again.

BeeBee,
Why are you assuming that becuause people woke up and realized what was going on at WT that they don't have a job now? I have a job, a much better job in fact, where people are treated like adults. You are a japanese success story. They have you brainwashed, and right where they want you. They want you to think that you can't get a job anywhere else, so you are stuck with them. Just don't be too upset when they don't return your misplaced loyalty.

I can leave any time I want to.As for a japanese success story, just because I happen to like my job makes me bad?
Go cry me a river. And Martin I think I know who you are.And as long as they were kissing your butt you was happy.

BeeBee,
Wrong aain. You are not very good at this. I am thinking now that maybe you really can't leave. You sound kind of defensive, did I hit a nerve??
