"The tractor still was running in low-gear neutral"....yet Kear claimed he was being "sped" at. Whatever.
Way to go jury. You let a murderer run free.

I agree. From his statement and the evidence, I don't know how they let him go.

"Sad" is obviously a relative or friend of Mr. Johnson as I have seen a lot of people from Brenham post comments on other articles relating to this subject. I am relieved to learn that a man who defended his life did not go to jail! I have always heard that it is near impossible to prove self defense. I am from Winnsboro and know of both men. I am neither friends nor enemies with either of them; however, I have heard of the numerous threats Mr. Johnson had made to the many people over the years - not just against Mr. Kear.
Sad, if someone ever tries to kill you and you end up saving your own life in self defense, I hope you remember how your comments on this case. Only God and Mr. Kear truly know what happen, but I feel in my heart this was self defense. I am glad the Kear family can close this chapter and get back to their lives.
People who comment on these cases act as if they are commenting on a television show or something fictional. These are real people with real feelings. Your meanness towards Mr. Kear could be read by his family. Think about the emotions you could cause for his wife, children, grandchildren...

Justice was served....Mr. J. had gotten away with threats all his life and he dealt with someone who stood up for himself and his own life.

No, I am not a relative of the Johnson's and I have never met the man. I've only read about the case online. Mr. Kear should not have instigated confrontation that day if he feared for his life from this unarmed 60-something year-old man. I do still believe he got away with murder and his "self defense" claim is BS in regards to what happened that day. My opinion.

TOO bad you did NOT hear the whole trial and ALL the men who KNEW both men and none of which said Kear was a violent man but claimed Johnson was. Also Johnson's own wife on the stand...and her daughter contradicting what her own mother said.

And how about if Mr. Johnson's family were to read this as well? His wife, children and grandchildren do not need to read that others think he deserved to be murdered.

The belief in the principles of our country's justice system are compromised when a jury finds a man innocent after he confessed to killing an unarmed man. Past events should not have played a part in the jury's decision, only evidence from that particular day. It is a shame that small town politics interfered with the justice system working the way it is intended to work. Makes me wonder if the results would have been different in a larger city without so many connections. The jury would have been able to focus on the evidence from that day.

Your "meanness" has been read by the Johnson Family. You are glad that a murderer is free and it is OK that the Johnson Family's Father, Husband, Grandfather and Friend is Dead. According to your statment, Why don't you think about the Johnson Family's emotions.

I too attended the trial. If you listen to the facts in the case and not listen to the gossipy towns people of Winnsboro that had a ax to grind against a dead man. All they did was hurt the living.

Here are the facts, from Kear's mouth, you be the judge.

Kear was 800 yard away from Johnson, supposely a man he feared.. Then he still travels toward him on Johnson land.. Then they collide like two children.. then Kear just starts shooting. My favorite part is that he claimed that Johnson then CALM Down... then back the tractor up.. then climb off the tractor.. then laid down. Johnson did all of this with a bullet going through his lung, then his heart, and then his other lung. I am not a Doctor, but it that happen to me, I don't think I could do all that. Then Kear dumped the bullets and drove back to the house to call 911 when Johnson was holding a cell phone. Make you wondering if he called his lawyer first to get advice what to say to the 911 operator. By the time the police arrive as testified by a police officer, Johnson was cold to the touch on a Hot October Day.

And another thing to think about, I hope you just having a bad reputation that happens in your life is not what you are judge by.

And to set to the record straight about the family members that testified that Johnson was volient. I have been around the Johnson Family for over 10 years and I have have never know the the Gilbreath/Robinson Clan to even claim to be a family member of the Johnson. Folks, this is America, not all families stay together as one big happy family. If you don't claim a family member when they are alive, why would you get on a stand and say you are a family member when they are dead.

What else do you know about Kear?

I heard rumor that he has been a land / timber thief for years preying on older folks with heir property when it goes to court for probate. Any information about his reputation as a lawyer.

Wrong Kear, this man isn't an attorney. You may be thinking of Kerr.
