I have many friends that look forward to doing this event every year and they come back with many stories of people that RAM helped. I just wished this could be how we practiced medicine 365 days per year, 24/7. Less bureaucracy so we can do our jobs of helping those who really need us!

This is a great story and those folks should be commended for their actions. We were much better off as a society when we helped take care of one another rather than depend on govt for everything.

Maybe if hospitals, drug companies, labs, etc charged a reasionable amount for what the drug, procedure, office visit, etc., actually costs and not what they think they can get out of your insurance, we'd be better off. Also would help if we got rid of the frivolus lawsuits. The baseline problem is downright greed and corruption and unfortunately both are interwoven into our society like a malignant tumor and no matter how much legislation is passed, we cannot get rid of it without making some wholesale changes. Pretty soon we are going to have 2 or 3 major hospital corporations and one insurance company (Uncle Sam) so I don't think things will be getting any better for a loooong time.

Agreed. As long as health care is a for profit industry it compromises the interests of the patients they serve.
