A bowling alley would be great, but do you really think "service" organizations like the VFW, Moose, Eagles, etc. would support a business, any business, that would pull their members off their bar stools?
I think they have disclaimers for that so they don't get dragged into controversy. They have no fear of competition, since "Birds of a feather flock together". Take that train and put it on the side track.:) I bet there are more chairs in any of those clubs than "bar stools" :)

I had written about having another store or resturant then what we have, but for me I think, having a bowling alley or movie theater would be the better idea. Lets give the kids here something to do. Bowling would be the better bet. We need activity for the kids, we need more then betting, eating and drinking. we need excerise, and we need to keep the revenues in our town instead of spending money in Fredericksburg. Consider the gas prices come spring time.

This is definitely awesome news. I totally agree about the idea of a bowling alley, clothing and shoe stores. Maybe also an arcade of some kind for the kids. Maybe a video store to sell movies and games. Also new businesses would create new jobs also.

Bowling alley and movie theatre would be the absolute very best. I believe an arcade belongs on the Boardwalk, not in the shopping center. Besides, a bowling alley would most likely have an arcade room or something similar anyway. Video store next to Domino's didn't make it and would probably have a similar fate in this shopping center. Shoe store, maybe, but I can't quite picture a clothing store there.

I think it just proves that the judges on this topic of maybe a bowling alley would prefer us to take our money elsewhere and must have something to do with the clowncil, but again, it's probably the drinkers. you guys just don't get it. Why hasn't the bowling alley been replaced in all these years?

I spotted workers on the roof of the old A&P part of the Shopping Center. It sure didn't take Rankins long to get the ball moving on repairs. THANK YOU!

Leroy IM'd me from Rio (His 1st royalty check arrived) "Depending on the time, you might want to reconsider your assessment! 2nd story men like roofs :)"
VN2: On pool shooting, another favorite for the kiddies is Pool Chuting if you got one big enough, but I would not put it in the bowling alley.:)
That's Rio, roofs, royalty, pool, shoot, and chuting. There's something there but I can't pull it together right now :)

Keep trying, James.....the synapses will reconnect sooner or later.

P.S. We had the banana slide as a pool chute but it's been gone for years. I miss Hop's Place on the other corner too.:)

there was a small theatre in arlington va long time ago and they had tables in the theatre and served food while you were watching a movie. it was great for a date or a small group of people.unfortunately, with the popularity of huge tvs and munchies in the family room the theater finally went out of business.

the theatre in Arlington is still in business and still showing movies ... in fact, it has expanded to include stand up comedy and concerts

As a proud member of the Moose , Eagles , and American Legion , I invite you to stop by and visit these clubs Yes we have bar stools but we also have Tables and chairs that you can read ,laugh ,and talk to Friends and help suggest, plan and implement things to help in the commnunity. I as well as others promote any thing that will help the community grow. As an officer in one of the Fraternal clubs I do not exspect members to be there all the time and hope they do as I do spend their time supporting all the businesses in CB. I moved here when I retired so as a Virginia native I can live my last years around people that are fast becoming my friends . See you at the Cannon Monday
Have a great Memorial day weekend.

Get back on your bar stool. You're a year and a half late for the discussion!

You are very harsh! the poster may have an ulterior motive to reach down into the depths :) Only he and likeminded persons know the value of the action :) The rest of us (many or few) have to wait for the next bus :) In the end TOPIX racks a post!

You touch on one of the "catch 22s" of life :) Almost EVERY drug that allows you to procede past 60 has to be sans EOTH. They should hand you a piece of paper with your post 21 DL that informs you, that way you might make smarter "investments" :) I KNOW my choices would have been colored differently :)(hind-sight is such a great feature, it should be standard equipment:)
Have a great Memorial Day and pause to remember those who afforded us the opportunity!
