I think that is TERRIFIC news for the people and Town of Colonial Beach and could end up being the shot in the arm we've needed for a long long time.

The stated intent was to start on that right away.

If you can't adjust to the Northern Neck Time Zone then maybe you should stay up North, so there back atcha!

We need positive attitudes around here. Eventually, maybe, that's something you can aspire to, and then you just may be a welcome addition to the Town.

Actually, on Thursday 1/8/11, Loyd was quoted as saying "we hope to get started on it next week. Not quite sure where you got the idea they would start on the roof this Thursday. Inside information?

Ditto, Vetnam, my friend. Dog Lady, lighten up a little and enjoy the people and the atmosphere of Colonial Beach and the Northern Neck. You will live longer and enjoy life more. Be more positive about our little town. There is a proper time for everything.

Completely agree! When you give nothing but negatives, you receive nothing but negatives!

This is the best news that I have heard in awhile.. What types of stores would you like to see in the shopping center?
My hope is that we do not get another pizza joint or used junk shop in town. We have far too many of those now.

I would love to see a Butcher meat market where the old Rankins used to be. Groceries secondary.
We need something not as big as FoodLion,
We need a great Butcher.
I would love to see a "Coopers" store. If you cant buy it there you dont need it.

you were right about the article, it said it would start soon and he said it on a thursday. must be my new BIFOCALS.
as far as a store that would be great here in colonial beach is a health food store with organic veggies and vitamins and lots of fresh bread.(german type of course) this could be a very small store like the on that i used to go in Lewes DE and in Leonardtown MD there was a small one too but the people supported it and they now have a nice bldg that they own in leonardtown.i have to travel there just to get my vitamins.

New tenants...hmmmm...perhaps an exercise studio. Kickboxing seems to do well in some shopping centers. A shoestore could work or a place that sells clothes. A candy store and/or a place that makes fudge. A Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins would be nice. A Taco Bell/Kentucky Fried Chicken would be terrific. A small movie theater or bowling alley would be fun. A place that sells plants/flowers may do well in the shopping center. Others?

Wishful thinking ....a bowling alley is an excellent idea. Many of the clubs in town, the Moose, Elks and others have bowling leagues which require trips to Fredericksburg.

The high school could start a league, the Eagels, American Legion and VFW..plus the average citizen and teens would have something to do.

Lets all hope this becomes more than wishful thinking

Or how about a movie theatre? Just 1 - not a multiplex.

A bowling alley would be great, but do you really think "service" organizations like the VFW, Moose, Eagles, etc. would support a business, any business, that would pull their members off their bar stools?
