Calvin Coolidge's made his first radio broadcast from the White House on December 10, 1923. It was an eulogy of his late predecessor, Warren G. Harding, and was delivered from his study. He opened his talk with a quote from Leigh Hunt's "Abou Ben Adhem." The broadcast was carried over stations WEAF, WCAP, and WJAR. This White House broadcast took place four day after his first broadcast as President; this was annual message (now State of the Union address) delivered before the Congress on December 6. On February 22, President Coolidge again spoke from the White House, this time to mark the birthday of George Washington.
