Dean Atkins has done a wonderful job for Westmoreland County. This is the strongest Commonwealth Attorney's Office that the County has ever had. Their record speaks for itself. A change to a unknown would be to risky. On Nov 8 come out and vote for Atkins.

Interesting letter written by George Townsend in the Westmoreland News regarding Mr. Dean Atkins. This has influenced my vote. Although I was leaning in this direction anyway.

I must say it took a lot of courage for Mr. Townsend to write this letter, considering he must be in court with Mr Atkins on a nearly daily basis.
Thanks

Dean is one of those people like CO that you don't hear or see until it is an election year.

Wish I would have seen George's letter. The link for editorials on the Westmoreland News website is not working. Must be a hot issue back home. I know both candidates, and personally like both candidates. I just wish some on Topix would stay away from the personal attacks such as where Dean likes to drink after work, etc.

I sincerely hope that this does not mean that you are NOT voting for Dean based on what a fly by night attorney like Townsend would say. Dean is a fine man and deserves to be re-elected. He has put away a ton of drug dealers here and will continue to do so. I am definitely voting for him.!!!!!

Agreed "Voter" but I lived in that county for a long time, family goes back hundreds of years, and voters in CB are way different than voters in the rest of the county. If I were to place a bet today, I would say that Sichol wins. Why?
Westmoreland County is well known for voting for people based on family ties or who you went to school with. It is very hard to get elected to a county seat unless you went to W & L or have lived here your entire life. My point? Mrs. Sichol has a pedigree that goes way back in Montross and the County. Her grandad, late father and uncle were attorneys. Her cousin is an attorney. She probably has enough relatives in the county to get elected. Should she be elected? Depends on your point of view. Seems to me like Dean has done a good job but I could be wrong. As I said, I'd be willing to bet Dean wins the CB precinct but loses the other four and Sichol is the next CA.

It is not fair but an unfortunate reality. In addition, I can't remember when anyone from Colonial Beach (other than the CB supervisor) was elected to a county wide office (Commish of Revenue, Sheriff, etc.)

He is simply the best man for the job. Her clout ansd her family should have nothing to with anything. I agree with voter just because she has a huge family with a lot of clout does not mean that she should be elected.

I don't like any politician that would call an attorney's wife or pastor to make disparaging remarks because of whom this attorney chooses to support at the polls. I also have had some contact with Mr. Atkins in and out of the court room. I believe he could conduct himself in a more professional manner when representing the citizens of Westmoreland County.

I also do not like your reference of fly-by night attorney which you given to Mr. Townsend.

Mr. Atkins is the best man for the job period. How do you know that the allegations that Mr. Townsend are correct after all it was supposely via telephone. Mr. Atkins did a great job with the Barbara Worrell case and has done a great job of prosecuting drug dealers. Westmoreland needs his experience and his relationship with the police and other departments. We do not need a newcomer, we are doing just fine with the way things are. I always say : If it ain't broke then keep it.

He's a good dude and he has done a lot for CB...I was just stating the fact that Mrs. Sichol has a lot of friends and family, and given Westmoreland's voting history, she will probably win. I've got no horse in the race.

This is America. We all have a vote, and hopefully everyone will exercise their right to vote. The majority will prevail.

I checked the campaign disclosure forms at

http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Campaign_Fina...
for Atkins opponent. She has accepted and used money from other attorneys and family members of cases that are still pending. Is that ethical?
Atkins owes no favors and has taken no contributions from anyone. He has my vote on November 8!!!
