So was Sparky just cruising by in his ambulance when the throw up happened or was he summoned there by a call to 911?

Once again the council has missed the point and side-stepped an issue! To my recollection, Mr. Rummage merely asked the budget committee to make a recommendation to the council on recinding the two resolutions evicting and barring him from Town Hall. The recomemdation should be given to the council by the committee and the resolution to rescind voted on by council. End of story. I find the proposal by Mr Ridgely to offer our Mayor an out-of-house (outhouse?) office insulting to say the least. I for one want to see how the council members will vote.

just curious. how many mayors has this town had so far and were their actions critized as much as this one?
i find it odd that the last mayor stood up for rummage so he can get an office back.

Read the Westmoreland the previous Mayor said there should be a office but certain conditions would have to be made. I did attend the meeting and the Journal certainly gave the short version. Said it before the office is not the problem but the person in it is.

Yes, every Mayor in CB has been criticized. We have a great small town but the terms "living in a fish bowl" or "being under a microsope" seem to apply.

Around 1912, the Mayor at the time was criticized for allowing the hunting of certain types of birds within the city limits.

So being an elected can be a real hot seat. I give the Pols a tip of my hat for wanting the job.

i agree with cb drifter, why would anyone even run for this office unless they thought it would benefit them in some way. the scrutiny they have received in this office do not make it worth it to run for it.
possibly someone is not aware that they are just supposed to be a FIGUREHEAD and do absolutely nothing and everything they come up with (ideas etc) will be heavily critized. what good is that?

They can do aloy for the Town if they understand procedure. The Council makes Policy that the Town Manager follows, trouble with this Council and Mayor they want to do day to day operations. Guess you get a instance feel good from that were making policy is more beneficial in the long run. They seem more interested in putting out campfires while the forrest is burning down.
Will have to give Karen the benefit of doubt in looking into tax advantages from business, while it has taken 2 years it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully it will not get lost in the bickering.

History shows that CB is looking for just the right amount of growth based on comunity standards that MAY conflict with developers desires. Developers want a "Sherman" type development where they can make their money and move on to the next project. Right now and for the the near term those metrics are DOA. It appears they found a small hole for the camels nose and attempted to exploit it at the wrong time.(Condos)
Your turmoil will continue untill "natural balance" is restored. Something happens between 45-60 years old to people (Trust me on this) and priorities change. I understand this a lot more now that I did in the 1960's. For those that remained there (and came there for the lifestyle) it was and is a great way of life that does need to be preserved. I watch this conflict with interest, since when I was a teenager it did not register, and I only caught nuances of the the true battle.

The trouble with this council is that at least four of them want to be Mayor. Two of them ran against Rummage and lost. Can you see any of them doing ANYTHING to make him look good? If he offered the town a million bucks tax free they'd find a way to turn it against him. And that's the truth!

"Paddle wheel" concept or "Fish in the barrell" concept works every time.:) Give them a tour or two or 3 in TC to learn the game, then wet em down with a tour as Mayor, and discard them to Historys book. Power people are supposed to come and go anyway.
I believe in the "Herd concept" and that has served me well over 65 years.(Leaders are shot as for their antlers, Stragglers are downed for the food value, and the middle runners go weee, weee, wee, ALL THE WAY HOME) I was forced to the front on occasion, but was ALWAYS most comfortable in the pack. My last four years really built my character and ducking ability :)

I got it, why don't we give him an office at his home in Montross, that way there would be no commute for him

we might have to consider throwing them all out of office. It seems like a childish situation. Do we really want all involved making decisions for our town.

What business of yours is it what somebody does when they are off work? This is just stupid.

If I remember correctly, Seeber, Kennedy and Rummage all ran for Mayor in 2008. Was there anybody else on Council who did? And who are the others that want to be Mayor?

Not to be a stickler for detail, but I believe the statement made was "Two of them ran against Rummage and lost."
