Will this be a freestanding Supercenter, or it will be a shopping center with other tenant's?

It will probably come in and eat up your town like the monster it is. It's what they do best. WM doesn't care about your town. You're the next stop on their quest to have a WM every 10 miles. Join the club.

First a super WM then Lowes and who knows what will follow after that. Hold onto your hat, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Any idea if P&C Supermarket in the Macedon Commons will shut down their store, if WM opens the Supercenter, and what is with the other tenant's out there in the Macedon Commons

Congratulations! Your area has been needing this kind of development for a long, long time. I love the macedon area and hope that walmart only brings good things. That won't necessarily be the case, but I highly doubt that the garbage spewed by leftist commies will actually occur either. Walmart will not kill your children or eat your dog. They will not burn down your grandma's house or starve out the local population. And they WILL NOT put any company of out business that wasn't already hanging on by a thread.

Macedon has long gone unrecognized. The available jobs in the area are scarce and the town is in dyer need of an economic boost. For any of you complaining, take a ride around the area, and then dare to say that ANY shopping center or new business is a bad idea. Come on people, Upstate is tough enough, people are barely hanging on to their jobs. How many friends, family due you know that have lost jobs due to downsizing, corporate re-location that could use a ANY job right now?

I'd stay on unemployment before I would work for Wal-Mart, and when my unemployment ran out, I would work anyplace else for minimum wage before Wal-Mart! Too bad your town board members think so poorly of their citizens, just like Lima's do, to only try to attract business such as Wal-Mart..... Do you guys live in a cave - don't you read the paper? Lawsuit after lawsuit against Wal-Mart for the way they treat their employees. Don't you think you deserve better? Demand better jobs from the people that you elected to represent you!

Lawsuit after lawsuit should be filed against Honeoye Falls MarkePlace for the way they treat their employees, but they are mostly high school kids who need the job and are too scared to come forward.

and Wal-Mart would be better? They don't even hire high school kids, their policy forbids it.

So that leaves more good paying, benefits offering jobs for adults that need them. Regardless of what you may think, I know the walmart pays their employees are fair wage and offers benefits to them. They may not be up to the socialist standards that you expect all companies to supply, but are comparable to the retail industry. I actually worked for walmart in college before leaving for a better job. Can you say the same? Or are you simply regurgitating half truths and hearsay from other people that may have worked at walmart once?

Of course walmart is being sued......they're freaking rich! They are #1, so they are the target for everyone with a complaint. The same with McDonalds.

I made the mistake of putting a frownie sign in my yard in Lima. I only did it because I was concerned about the environmental impact a walmart store would have on the town. After about 2 weeks of learning the kind of communist trash that was behind the anti-walmart push I threw the sign in the garbage. I will not support this leftist socialist agenda.

"Demand better jobs from the people that you elected to represent you!" This is the mindset of the leftist michael moore lover. They believe that the government exists to make everyone's life better. Your elected leaders are supposed to provide you with a good job? Hell NO! Did I forefathers fight and die to create a constitution that protects our right to 4 weeks vacation time annually and a 401K plan? Y'all smoked way too much pot in the 60's. Has anyone in this country ever gotten ahead because of the assistance of the government or rather in spite of it?

Macedon needs this walmart and the ensuing development that comes with it. Thankfully their townboard was wise enough to approve the development. I know that ours will approve Walmart when they come back with a better location. The frownies have destroyed their base of support. I doubt that more than 1/2 the names on that petition would even consider supporting you in the future. I wouldn't.

People complaining about walmarts wages and benefits. Hell, Atleast walmart offers their employees benefits. My husband builds Home Depots, Lowes, Dollar Generals ETC.. His company doesn't offer any benefits or retirement. Doesn't have to because the govenment doesn't force small business to provide anything but a weekly paycheck. Anyways we pick where we want to work. People don't have to work at walmart if they don't want to. My husband won't work for this company once I'm done with school. Families do what they have to do to support themselves.
Congrads, on your new SuperCenter, I will be shopping there!! I heard a Lowes is going in down the street? If so I will diffently be there!!!

So the Super Patriot Right Wing Neocon doesn't like Leftist Commies who are resisting Walmarts?

Where does this real intelligent person think that Walmart's merchandise is manufactured and the money he spends there goes?

To China of course the bastion of democracy and free speech-right- no leftist commies there!.

They are slowly taking us over, dollar by dollar and you want more Walmarts so it can happen faster!!

I have had two children work at the HFMP store, and I was happy that they were able to work locally. Rick and Deric know how to treat their employees and they both have done so much for the community. My children were involved in sports and other after school activites, and HFMP was willing to work around their schedules...so thank you HFMP for being part of the community

Shop in any store and much of the merchandise is from Taiwan, Mexico, or China..we in the USA have become a service country and have given up manufacturing for the most part...check your labels from Macy's and Bon Ton...and toys and sewing machines (invented here)...Like or Dislike Wal-Mart, I don't care, but that is a hackneyed reason to dislike any retailer..all of them buy where the goods are made

I am a resident of Fairport and am very happy that we will have more shopping choices. We have had a few stores that dominate the food and retail markets in the area and have seem to become complacent. This may force these and other stores to look at their services to the community and to the people of these communities.
As far as their "unfair practices", there will always be complaints that an employer isn't doing the right thing for their people, but things get exagerated, taken out of context and sometimes lied about, and the only thing the masses know is what they hear from the media. It is still a place to work. No, it won't make you rich working there, but it will provide you with work while you look for something "better".
