8 arrested on federal drug warrants
by Kellen Moore
Deputies arrested eight people last week on federal drug warrants stemming from an investigation that previously led to 11 other arrests in March 2012, the Watauga County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

An investigation into the methamphetamine manufacturing ring began in 2008.

On Feb. 27, deputies and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officers arrested:

-- Charles Parlier, 55, and his wife, Willa Dean Parlier, 53, of Mountain City, Tenn., who were charged with conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff's office. Charles Parlier also was charged with distribution of 50 or more grams of meth and possession of equipment and chemicals used to manufacture meth, while Willa Dean Parlier was charged with possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture meth.

-- Jeremy Greene, 32, of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., who was charged with conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of equipment and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

-- Chasiti Ward, 30, who was arrested with Greene in Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., and charged with conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of equipment and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine. Ward is the daughter of Tommy Ward, who authorities believe led a drug trafficking organization that manufactured meth for more than 10 years until his arrest in 2012.

-- Holly Rhymer, 26, of Mountain City, Tenn., who was arrested and charged with conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of equipment and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

-- Sara Brewer, 36, of Newland, who was charged with conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of equipment and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

-- Ricky Ward, 52, of Sugar Grove, who was charged with conspiracy to manufacture more than 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

-- Coty Pennington, 23, of Mountain City, Tenn., who was charged with conspiracy to manufacture more than 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The minimum mandatory prison sentence for these charges is 10 years to life with the possibility of a fine up to $10 million, according to the sheriff's office.

I am not takeing up for these people in any way. I have been wondering when arrests' would be made. This is going on in Doe too.
I do know for a fact that one of these people was neglected by their parents. If this person had been removed from the bad influence{drugs, alchohol, men, poverty} as a child, their name might not be listed in this forum.Another instance, a couple who was arrested had four children whose lives were affected. At least one of them stays in trouble.
I think it would be a good idea to use canine drug sniffers in a surprise visit to our schools early in the mornings. If a drug is indicated,a warrent could be issued before the day ends and a child might be saved from a drustuctive future.

opps... If a drug smell is indicated on the child's clothing, a search could be executed at the home.

I do not remember hearing of the federal warrants being reversed. And even if they get the minimum time of ten years, they serve the full time they are given and are not let out of federal prison early for acting perty like they are in regular state sentences.
