This is bad news. Britt Springer is a Jerry Wilsin clone and that's bad for all of us. We need someone to come in and shake up the laziness and arrogance of the DA's office. Business as usual would be harmful to our community.
I, for one, hope that Nathan Miller or Four Eggers chooses to run for DA. We need leadership, accountability and vision. Britt doesn't offer any of these attributes.

The cases are so backed up. They need to offer some amazing pleas to lighten the load. Then they can focus on getting through the serious cases.

Miller and Eggers have no experience in prosecuing criminal cases. They really only have experience in misdomeanors and traffic cases. We need an experienced DA for Watauga County. Neither of those guys fit the bill.

Randy, I have to disagree. The DA is an administrator, a leader. Nathan Miller and Four Eggers both have experience in that role. Like their politics or not, the fact is that the current DA's office is a debacle. Perpetuating a broken office is what Britt brings to the table. We need bold, unfettered and decisive leadership...for a change.

Murder trials have always been tried by the DA. How can you lead an office of this type when you know nothing about prosecution or even know how to try a case. Miller wants the position handed to him instead of working for it. Sorry but he is a joke in the criminal system and doesn't even know it.

Can someone tell me when Britt Springer change her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican? Was it at the same time she was
hired by Jerry Wilson in the DA's office?

Springer switched from Democrat to Republican on August 30, 2012. I bet the same day she decided to run. It was right after Charlie Byrd left. She realized she couldn't win in a conservative district as a Democrat so she decided to switch her party but not her loyalities. I bet Pam Williamson is controlling her like she is the town of Boone.

Can someone tell me when Mr Miller got his DWI and why he had to have an interlock on his car for several years? Oh wait I know, Mr Miller believes he is above the law and the lowly people who enforce it. Millers criminal record speaks for itself.

Above the law? Sounds to me like he got punished just like everyone else who gets caught. When he gets caught in some sort of fraud or embezzlement, then we can talk.

Has Britt Springer now gotten a local district court judge in trouble due
to allegations he violated Canon 7 of the Judicial Code of NC because he endorsed a candidate running for the DA's office and for making political campaign contributions to the DA candidate? Who else's professional career is she going to destroy by her callous behavior?

Wow, now Nathan Millers people are getting so worried that they now have to attack the most loved judge of all, Alexander Lyerly. Lyerly endorsed Britt because she is the most qualified person for the job. Nathan then threw a tantrum and threatened the judge to his face and then turned him in to the ethics committee when Lyerly had aready been given the ok. Classy move Nathan. If you want to know the real Nathan Miller just ask Judge Lyerly about him, he will more than happily tell you what he thinks of him.

I hope you people aren't planning on voting for Britt because of her success in the Courtroom which is dubious at best. She didn't even check the rules before using Lyerlys unethical endorsement. This is itself an ethical violation and she will be called on to answer for it in the near future. Her, Jerry Wilson and Lyerly. What a bunch of sneaking underhanded crooks.

If it wasn't an Ethics violation, why did Brit give back the campaign contribution? It is too late for her to save herself!

Seems as if old Britt got told by Hon. Bob Orr no more politicking on the taxpayer dime so she got mad and took an unpaid leave of absence to go on the campaign trail. She's probably gambling it all on winning this election. I dont think shell be able to come back unless she wins and then probably not until its time for the new DA to take office. If she doesn't win she can either hunt for another asst. DAs job in another district or get out and open her own office. I dont think she's got what it takes to be able to do that. Sounds like the old Stonewall Jackson song Waterloo beginning to play to me. Has Britt met her Waterloo

23 Years as Attorney, You should check the "Watauga Democrat" newspaper for the truth about Britt Springer. See the 4/18/2014 article "Springer Takes Time Off to Campaign". Britt is taking vacation time, she is not on a leave of absence! She requested to take this vacation time 6 MONTHS AGO (long before Bob Orr became the interim DA). Britt is quoted, "I didn't want any thought of me politicking on state time". There is a lot of misinformation in some of the comments on this site.

I have observed Britt Springer in the courtroom for numerous trials. She does a fantastic job. Wish you could have seen her prosecute a child molester in a trial that lasted about 2 weeks in Avery County. He won't ever be able to hurt another child, thanks to her expert prosecution. She is the only candidate that has the knowledge and experience in the 24th Judicial District to be our next DA. She cannot be blamed for how the DA's office has been run in the past. I look forward to much improvement when she becomes DA. VOTE FOR BRITT SPRINGER FOR DA!

Blah, blah, blah. Sounds like more attempts at cya on old Britts part just like using lyerlys unethical endorsement before he retired. I know that ones true because I personally called the judicial standards commission and the state bar. You can't make up some bs about that one. And I have it on good authority that she took the leave of absence without pay. We will see if she's back in that office right after the election. I'm betting not. Go Seth, Go Nathan. Both of them are better lawyers than Britt.

And Democrat is right which is what Britt has been her whole life until she decided to run for this office. Why didn't she just run as a DEMOCRAT. She would have had a better chance.

I'm not understanding why he could commission for other judges to be publically reprimanded for their unethical behavior but he gets away with his, nothing said and he gets to just retire.
