Great. Let's just feed into this guy's arrogance. "Oh, look at me, I'm Eustace Conway! Rules don't apply to me!"

Did you every stop to think that the reason the case was dismissed was because there was no proof that he tresspassed. He and his neighbor have been arguing for years about who owned that part of the land. If his neighbor could not prove they owned it then there was no proof that conway broke the law.

I know someone who had a legal deed to some land in Watauga but their neighbors deed said that they own the land in question. Two people with legal deeds to the same piece of land. The court settle the problem by going back through the deeds and and went with the oldest deed that could be found.

This stuff happens a lot more than you would think since the way we survey land is getting more and more precise. There is a big difference in using GPS to survey land and draging chains through the woods.

But he dealt with the problem in the wrong way. He allegedly blocked here driveway and put signs up all over the place. He should have gone through the courts to settle the problem. Just like this deal with his buildings. He waits until he gets caught breaking the rules, and then cries that the rules are unfair. "Oh, they haven't inspected my property for 20 years. I'ce never had a problem before." Hey wise guy. They haven't inspected your property because you haven't applied for permits. His sh!t is falling over and is a serious threat to his customers. Yeah, customers. He runs a business. Anybody who goes into a business expects that business to be up to code. Just because numb nuts is in the sticks doesn't mean he is exempt.

I got news for you a lot of the code is not about safety it is about money. Company's come up with products and want them used in the building trade and one way they do it is to get their product to be required by code.

Take fire calk for example it is now required to calk every hole that goes up or down between floors of your house. What good does it do to calk around a piece of pvc pipe or plastic covered wire since the the plastic will melt out and you will still have an open hole with fire calk around the edges. The good it does is to put money in the manufactures pocket by requiring you to buy a product that is unneeded and expensive.

Now I will admit that some things in the code are just common sense but there is a lot that is not. Just because a building is not built to code does not mean it is unsafe. My family like many others in this area have homes that are a hundred plus years old that are just as well built or better than the crap that is built today.

Remember if there had been anything to the case it would not have been dismissed.

I wouldn't pay you to build me an outhouse, much less a residence. Codes are there for a reason. If building techniques from the 1800's are so safe and popular, then why don't people use them anymore? It's not a conspiracy to get you to buy crap. If Eustace want's to live in his buildings that are about to fall over, go for it. But he needs to stop letting other people in and possibly subjecting them to injury or death.

His land he should be able to do as he wants. it is land of the free so if people want to go stay in a primitive dwelling they know what their getting into

Bull. I'm all for people doing what they want to on their own land. If you want to sleep in a straw bed under a teepee, go for it. But when you subject others to health and safety hazards just to make a buck, it's not a case of just living how you want. They shut restaurants down for this stuff, why not shut down Eustace. I guess I could just open up a restaurant and offer "primitive cooking". You know, use the same pot all day, not use any modern soaps and detergents, let meat sit out for days. Hey, at least you'll know what you're getting.

How does he afford his own land, when he can't pay his taxes on time? He's always in court making deals with paying his taxes. The threaten to take his land away all the time. Does he have a toothbrush?

Go to the Turtle Island Preserve website. Look at what he charges for a wagon ride and his classes. Then you'll have a better idea about what he really is. You could go chat up an old-timer around here and get more knowledge than you would ever get from Eustace. And the old-timer probably wouldn't charge you. Some of them just like the company.

This whole turtle island thing is a joke. All the liberal hippie types who want and vote for big govt. come out whining and crying and protesting about the very govt they put in place and are supporting when someone breaks the law or the rules. Why does the local health department pass his open air/bug/animal kitchen when they give the local restaurants and food trucks such a hard time? What a farce, the whole tv show is a joke, and the junk vehicles you can see on google earth are numerous, probably old and leaking oil and crap into that local streem....environment? kind to the earth? really? I don't see hoardes of local people moving up there and being interns for free
