We need an amnesty box. A place where people can turn in any illegal items without fear of repercussion. A place for parents to turn in a child's drugs. A place for you to turn in that unwanted pistol. A place for unwanted medication.

I agree. This is a great idea, Jake

Parents are more than welcome to use the drop box for drugs they may find on or around their children "without any questions whatsoever". This box is for any type of unwanted medication or drug. It doesn't matter if it's illegal or not. As for unwanted weapons, I've been around Boone P.D. & deputies, from the Watauga County Sheriff's Office enough to know that if you turn in a weapon to be destroyed, it isn't a big deal. It'll more than likely be checked to see if it's a legally owned weapon or not, but I know you can turn it in. Everybody thinks Deputy's & the Police are all hardnosed individuals, but they aren't. 90 to 95% of our officers in Watauga County are really very good men & women. They care about us, most don't give them a chance though.

Don't believe this guy. You'd be a fool to think those illegal drugs wouldn't be fingerprinted. You should be skeptical even if they DID accept illegal drugs. While I think an amnesty box is an excellent idea, you cannot trust any law enforcement official to not test those surrendered items.

When you have deputies watching child porn on duty, do you not think they would not sample the dope? LD said himself at the high school in front of a class that they take some of the dope.
