Mich. could reduce prisoners by deporting them

There are 41 comments on the detnews.com story from Apr 18, 2009, titled Mich. could reduce prisoners by deporting them. In it, detnews.com reports that:

Some lawmakers don't understand why cash-strapped Michigan is keeping foreign criminals behind bars rather than handing them off to the federal government for immediate deportation.

That's a great idea how about the rest of the country ?

This may seem inhumane , but if they are illegal a faster deportation policy may be needed.

We have homeless Americans on the street who have no food and shelter yet this country should house and feed criminal immigrants?!?! I don't think so.

Are you volunteering to pay for their care while they serve their time?

If not, stop spending money we don't have, and which could be better spent on your fellow citizens if we do have it.

Time served +20, several states including Mighigan often don't get around to releasing prisoners when their time is up. The private prisons are making money based upon the occupancy of the cell from the tax payer, not if the person(s) have completed the sentance. The bottom line is simple, keep them in a cell, no matter what their time was suppose to be, clogg the system with appeals and no one gets out on time. This way the tax payer pays for more time based upon the criminal conduct of the system not the criminal behind bars. Want to save money? Limit the number of appeals, deport the illegal after they are found to be in the US illegally (ie. via BUS to Mexico or Plane to other country) and use the INTERPOL database for searching of criminals in the US. It was only a couple of years ago that Castro emptied his prison system and sent them all towards the US in any boat that would travel. Kicked Off the island these, sometimes hardened criminals made it to our shores, or tried to enter Mexico and then the US at the border. The faster we can turn the door around and move them out the better off we will be. Once the person in the prison has served his time, quickly get him out and move him in a halfway house or other already established program, better yet vocational rehabilitation is always better than right back on the streets, also if capital punishment is your gig, then for all the smoking gun crimes (ie. hot gun or weapon still in hand when caught, no doubt the guy or gal is guilty) why have a lengthy trial, get the deed done as fast as possilbe, one trial within a week of capture and then finish the job. Now if it is anything otherwise let the Elephant of a system grind on to either prove or disprove the charge. Justice with held is not justice it is torture for the family left here. As far as using the criminals in prison, make their lives so distasteful that they don't want to go back, empty a landfill and recycle for us, the job is smelly and I am sure working a line picking garbage can have some long hours, but presently just placing them with TV, weight rooms, College, and tons of time to form gangs and get into more trouble, has shown not to be the answer, they just end up being smarter and more hardened to do the job as a criminal better. It is funny go to another country and see their jails, not many people want to go back, even if they get the chance.

Rebel, you are willing to release rapists, drug dealers and gang bangers? What about them doing there time first? You want to give them a get out of jail free card so they can go straight back tomorrow? Oh and I already pay for them every 3 months when I pay quarterly taxes.

We should excute a few that are caught. Then we will see how many want to sneak in our country.

Close up our borders to make sure they don't sneak back in. Release them back to their country of origin so we don't have to further support them in prison.

You pay the same as the rest of us. If you want to keep them here, you should be paying more to do so. The rest of us don't want the additional expense.

Put tracing chips in them like you can your dog. then we know if they are coming back in. Let them know that our guards shoot on site at the border. Why do criminals have more rights in this country than those who obey the law.

No, you do not. I pay both employer and my portion of social security -- there is no higher percent. It's 6.2% on both ends, for social security alone. Then add in medicare. Then add in federal taxes.

You may pay for employees, but that is your choice. That is not *for* YOU.

Rebel do you pay mileage tax, hwy use tax, extra fuel tax on your fuel use above what you pay at the pump? I doubt it.

Stop being so dense. That is because you (allegedly) own trucks. For other businesses there would be taxes YOU do not pay and other people DO pay. It all comes with the territory. If you don't want to pay those taxes, stop running a business that requires it. Otherwise, as an individual, you do not pay any extra taxes other than self-employment tax like anyone else who is self-employed. The truck taxes are business, not individual.

And, my comment was on your "I pay a higher percent of ss tax" which is so damn false it's not even funny. 6.2% for employer and 6.2% for employee. ANYONE who is self-employed pays both, and that includes me.

You just keep twisting and twisting...spinning and spinning. You must be dizzy by now.
