I know officer Durham, he is not the kind or person who would be careless and not attentive to the area he was in. I know whatever really happened in the accident Officer Durham was not, not paying attention. I know he would not have hit anyone to throw his weight around. I can insure anyone who reads this that the officer is very distraught and will have this accident in his mind and his heart for a very long time. As well I know the officer and his family will send their deepest regrets for the bicycle riders condition. I and the officers family will keep Mr. Albertson and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Officer Durham will surely not forget this incident for a long time. To all involved I send my thoughts prayers and sympathy. Judge not lest yee be judged

Judge not les't yee be judged... I wonder how deep your sympathy would be if it had been Deputy Durham on the bike & him lying brain dead with the vultures circling, wanting his vital organs? If Albertson had been behind the wheel, he'd be in JAIL, scared for his life in fear of the retribution that would surely come from Durham's fellow deputies in the Washoe County Jail. If you're a cop & you f#*#k up, your pal's will cover your ass, even if you kill somebody by ACCIDENT! Your sympathy falls on deaf ears, DEPUTY. BTW... when was the last time a cop donated his or her organs when they were declared brain-dead?

If you honestly know the person and it's not like the person to be careless like that then Durham shouldn't be sentenced for a long time. I don't know any cops, however, he doesn't seem like some of those other lit drivers that don't really give a damn. It must have been a hard hit for Anderson to be brain dead after that. It's too bad, but it happens, and it doesn't mean the cop should do a lot of time and lose everything while in the Pen. It will probably be the worst experience for him.

I think it would make this an even larger tragedy if this officer is not punished severely. ANY driver who's innatentivness allows them to rear end a moving bike rider so sereverly to kill them should go to jail. It should not be good enough that this officer allows everyone to blame the cyclist and says he feels bad. Its wreckless to operate a deadly weapon with such obvious disregard for other peoples safety. I for one do not think he should get special light treatment because he is a police officer. I think his driving and other actions SHOULD be an example to everyone and if not then his punishment should set an example. We cannot allow officers or civilians to think that driving isn't dangerous and doesn't require ones full attention. Please do not just blame the cyclist because he cannot defend himself.
