OK, I just can't help it...I'm glad they are going after drug dealers, but this seems comical. They have been in the home making buys...and then did the whole "Mission Impossible" bust dressed in black with facemasks...and the guy wasn't even home? Maybe a stakeout would have been a good idea to make sure the guys was home?

The operation is shut down??? Um. Maybe out of that condo...but the condo wasn't dealing week, a person was...who is still on the lam.

Lastly...after all that effort...they "might" issue an arrest warrant?

And I don't know why, but the quotes from Edmunds "that's a lot of bud right there", and a deputy: "We've got a freezer full of weed" made me chuckle. I sort of expect more professional sounding statements from law enforcement.

So nice job fellas but maybe a bit more planning is in order so you can actually get the dealer. Then you can say the search was "successful."

Aaaayyyyeee. "Nice job Eddie" :-) "Mission Accomplished!"

I am moving to Canada. I just heard they legalized prostiution. This is the best news since I heard it was all a misunderstanding about the Mayor hiring his girlfriend to be his private PR firm at tax payers expense. One more before I take my exit, what about the Summit County Council giving themselves a retroactive pay raise including past politicians of the Democrat faith. I am selling my house, you fools can cover all this nice expense by yourselves. Do they have internet in Canada?

Wow a lot of work for a pound of weed. MMM makes you wonder why you dont go help the troopers on I-80 when they stop hundreds of pounds of weed, and arrest someone with it! Oh wait what ever happened to that big K-9 deputy that Summit use to have that got all that weed with his dog? Oh yea he got run off from the Summit county SO because he was doing his job! Marijuana is a misdemaenor in Utah.... It must be re-election time. Time for a new sheriff and administration, maybe some that actually live in Summit County! Go Dax!

guess the face masks didn't work. Since they made buys there, they probably had a phone #, would have saved us a bunch of $ had they called first. And instead of "bud" and "weed" add "jane" to your vocabulary. lmao

Since when is a pound of pot a "freezer full"? A full SWAT team assault with pre-arranged press coverage? Looks and smells like cheap electioneering to me....and what's with this "we may issue an arrest warrant"? Give me a break, Dave.

Perhaps this was used as a training exercise for the SWAT-like guys. While the headcount and equipment may sound heavy-handed to most, based on the paltry findings, not a bad way to practice for the next big drug bust.

It is easy for all of us to second guess the tactics used, motives, and "bang for buck" (NPI).

When you have teenagers here in SLC carrying handguns, and using them on fellow gang members, these tactics may not seem inappropriate. The next bust may encounter active resistance, and our police officers will be prepared.......

I guess "this operation is shut down' is true, as long as they were dealing teaspoon baggies.

though i applaud the sherif's department for confiscating a bunch of pot that may have gotten to our children, i have to ask why and by who's authorization gave the Sherif's department all that expensive training and weapons. Face mask's? Really? I did not know that the sherifs department had officers trained as SWAT with heavy weapons and body armor... This is a bit scary when you consider these same officers are patrolling 224 on regular days. I would have thought that a state police tactical team would be used in a small county like ours. I guess this is another example of how our law enforcement system has changed since 911. Now even county sherif's are trained in combat and the use of heavy weapons. Just my 2 cents....

It this really a big drug bust?? Probably not. Come on now. How ridiculous. What a waste of time, tax payer $, what a waste of article space and a waste of the DEA's time.

Deputies MAY seek an arrest warrant?? How about they WILL issue an arrest warrant. Why would they not?? This punk will do some hard time and be back on the street in no time...

In terms of this being a SWAT training session, probably not such a great idea to do it in a busy condo complex where there are children everywhere, who were horrified to hear what was going on. Nice work.

#15 Oct 2, 2010 one does "hard time" for less than two pounds of "bud" people barely do hard time for murder.

Really? You'd think they'd be busting a young cocaine dealer in Promontory! Weed? Big freaking deal! Everyone I know smokes weed! Nice job! Masks? You guys crack me up! Man up and show your faces! Sheriff, stateys, and PC police, and that's all you got? Too funny! Don't hurt your arm patting yourself on the back!

These guys entered a premises in a heavily populated development without notifying or evacuating the neighbors? And they didn't even verify that the suspect was at home??? Edmunds and his clowns are modern day Keystone Cops. Black suits, face masks, and complete incompetence. They are going after weed dealers? Yeah, big danger to the community. What's the matter with manning up and going after cocaine dealers? Or do they make the Sheriff's little sycophants cry like baby girls and pee their pants? What pre-election nonsense. PLEASE vote this dirt bag out of office.

You can certainly tell when Edmunds is up for re-election, he turns everything into a BIG news story just to get his name in the papers. And wow, they searched a "one bedroom" for many Summit County deputies does it take to make Edmunds look good? The Summit County Sheriff's Office hasn't had a decent sized drug bust in years and we're suppose to vote for him because of some baggies of "bud"?

Darn, now I have to drive all the way down to the valley to buy my weed!
Really, doesn't Summit County's finest have better things to concentrate on? Like coke and meth dealers. A huge operation for a couple pounds of pot? Isn't there a cyclist running a stop sign somewhere?

The clowns, namely Ron Bridge, the same one that lied about his K9 training for over a year and still has his job, is now reporting to the press? What about all the deputies with no integrity that Edmunds surrounds himself with? What a joke Edmunds turned out to be. I'm glad his game backfired on him.
