Although I do not condone drinking and driving, I do recommend that people know what the US Constitution provides them in protection against an overbearing government. Especially, since so many service persons give or risk their lives upon swearing a lifetime oath to both support and defend the US Constitution against all enemies foreign or domestic and those rights include;

1. THAT A MOTORIST MAY REFUSE FIELD SOBRIETY TESTS,

2. THAT A MOTORIST MAY REFUSE NON-EVIDENTIARY ROADSIDE PORTABLE BREATH TESTS,

3. THAT A MOTORIST HAS A RIGHT TO REFUSE TO MAKE VERBAL STATEMENTS TO POLICE REGARDING MANY THINGS INCLUDING ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION,

4. THAT A MOTORIST HAS A RIGHT TO REFUSE TO MAKE WRITTEN STATEMENTS TO POLICE REGARDING MANY THINGS INCLUDING ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION,

5. THAT A MOTORIST MAY HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN REFUSING THE EVIDENTIARY BREATH TEST AT THE POLICE STATION IF THEY BELIEVE THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO PROVE AN AFFIRMATIVE DEFENSE AGAINST DOING SO,

6. THAT A MOTORIST HAS A RIGHT TO AN ATTORNEY.

With that said, don't drink and drive and drive safe on the holiday.

After the 4th of July parade a few years back I had too much to drink and was just chillin in my car. The police swarmed on me in an attempt to get me to flee. Warren memories

Did they nail you for DUI for sitting in the car?

I believe the keys have to be in the ignition.

Depending on the state, you'd be wrong. After reviewing a few PA DUI attorney websites, it appears that police would have to prove the person sleeping in the car had been operating it on a public road or on publicly use private property.

I believe the cops were trying to scare me into driving away. You know, a dirty tactic. I could'nt stand outside for fear of being busted for public intoxication, you know-- another Warren tradition

That's true, I've heard of that one before, where police will induce or let a person out of a vehicle, then charge them with public intox.

It's nice to see that local government's are so broke they have to lay off police.
