Full story: The Morning Call

Oh, I see - it's the SCHOOL DISTRICT'S responsibility to be the girl's parents, not the parents themselves. They should sue themselves for damages as to how uninvolved they must have been in their daughter's life to have this go on as long as it did. You don't notice that your daughter has a cell phone? Are you kidding me?

I guess the school was supposed to spy on the teacher after hours and make sure she wasn't up to anything, and spy on her inside the school as well.

Uninvolved parents suing - now there's a BIG surprise!

You're right, Common Sense, about the fact that the parents are suing the school b/c they didn't catch it...the teacher was so manipulative, which makes her deceiving...she saved face by acting perfectly fine in school so no one thought anything was happening...how was it the district's fault? it's a terrible thing that the juvenile victim went thru, but to be sue happy and sue for the sake of suing is pointless...the school shouldn't be held liable since it happened outside of school...15-30 yrs speaks volumes in regards to justice, doesn't it?

Where were the parents at 3:30AM when their daughter wasn't home?? How do you not know where your early teenage child is at anytime of the day?

Now that is hitting the nail squarely on the head! Very well said!

I also agree with "Tough Decision:" Where were the parents when the child wasn't home, in bed, on a school night? Do they find that their daughter coming home at 4am on a school night is acceptable behavior?

There's so many fingers pointing here, there and everywhere, yet the parents are made out to be saints? Puhleeze...

Eevryone has their hand in the public's pocket. Even though the loss might be covered under the schools insurance policy (not sure being it is a criminal offense resulting in a civil filing), this sets a bad precedence even allowing a civil suit. If I were the judge hearing this civil case, I'd look the parents in the eye and tell them...I'll give you your $100,000, but you are sitting in jail for 365 days for not supervising your child after school hours, or you can drop the case and be responsible parents. The parents got what they wanted and the teacher deserved...shes behind bars. She should be. Plus she is a listed offender for the rest of her life. Her teaching career is over. And for the most part her working life is over.

Travesty succks but two wrongs don't make a right. Parents profiting off their kids suffering has to be outlawed.

kids can sneak out without the parent knowing... it is so easy. the school should be able to make ANY person who deals with a child take a lie dector test and ask them if they like lil kids sexually. also any sports coach should be asked or just any adult that comes in contact with a minor

Where is Keri Ann's supporter now? Whether it was a family member or friend, I seem to recall a person by the name of "Truth" standing behind Ms. Breckne through this whole thing claiming her innocence? Well it seems as though Ms. Breckne herself admitted it to the parents, AND apologized to her own family members!! I guess you didn't know her as well as you thought HUH??

15 to 30 years. That is way too funny. I'm sure she never imagined that her actions could ruin her entire life - but they sure can!

Get $100,000 and sit in jail for a year? I'd do that in a second! I'd be making much more money than I'd be losing, so I would come out ahead! I believe MOST people would...

How about community service? If the parents are too lazy to be proper parents, then that would just drive them nuts!

Facing 20+ years in jail I would have a lawyer fight the charges if I was inocent and I would not have plead guilty. Your friend is guilty end of story.

Some people regardless of innocence get charged to be the scapegoat.
Someone had to go to jail, they just picked her. All they had was circumcisional evidence.

How about her parents responsibiltiy? 12 years old and getting home at 4am??? Why is it that for 6 months they allowed this to happen? If they weren't aware that their daughter wasn't home...shame on them even more!

And to sue the school district ??????? Where is THE PARENTS responsibility in not preventing this abuse? Or not noticing changes? SHE WAS 12 for gosh sake!

If THEY (Her parents) didn't even know that THEIR daughter was being abused...HOW THE HECK IS THE SCHOOL supposed to know???? Going after the school will only keep this child in the hot seat and subject to being exposed. The predator is jailed...let it go. Schools have a hard enough time making ends meet without having to shell out money to everyone who feels the need to blame the "school" for what happens to their children.

I hope this girl realizes that she was preyed upon...and that it is not her fault. It happens all to often. My best wishes to this girl for a healthy and happy life.

To the truth. I now beleive you. There is no way this teacher brainwashed her. The judge was not impartial in any way. That family lied in court today creating stories to make the whole thing sound much worse. Why? They need to build their case against the school district. Why???$$$$$$$money! This family wants money. Poor teacher got railroaded by a fool of a judge.

The initial story said the girl snuck out of the house. As for the school? They should sue. I have family that go to this school and they knew the teacher was like this as well as many other people. All the kids in class had her cell number and she had all their numbers. They should do some more investigating.

Circumstantial evidence? I quess you were there when the Bethlehem Police Detectives did the search warrant on her apartment. I quess all the physical evidence that Police in NJ found was all fake too. I quess it was all a two state conspiracy. What are you taking lessons off of John Karoly because everything in life to him is a conspiracy?

Denial is a horrible thing. Maybe you should just come to your senses and realize that your friend, Keri Ann, did this. You heard it from her own mouth when she plead guilty. Hopefully she will get the help she needs. Maybe she can do some teaching in prsion and turn this whole horrible incident into something good.
