Where are all the states rights people? Why are you asking for uncle sam to help? Handle it yourselves, you know, like you tell everyone else to do.

That's because these are the things that our government is suppose to be involved in. Things like National Defense and disasters, not paying you to sit on your duff making stupid comments and bi/tching about your food stamps.

This thread is SUPPOSED to be dedicated to the devastating storm(s) which struck the south. Thank-you.
The count is now up to 291 with others still unaccounted for. 204 of these casualties were in Alabama alone. Prayers for their families.
President Obama has declared DeKalb County and other parts of Alabama hit especially hard by the storms a disaster area and promised aid.
It is not primarily the needs of the "state" that the federal government is concerned with. It is the needs of the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-relations and etc. who will now be grieving for their lost loved ones and trying to pick up the pieces of their upside-down lives. This aid is meant to help them...as well as the state...along that very hard road to recovery.

I'm sure the first Obama consideration is as to whether these are white people (can't have that) he's helping and whether or not they voted for him in 2008. Then he'll need to take a poll to see how much political traction he'll get by pretending he cares.

The problem is if this continues into late May they will not have time to reset when the Hurricane season starts and they could be wiped out worst than when Katrina hit. The number of homes destroyed is going to cost the nation big money and the insurance companies are going to take a real hit. The wood products companies are going to raise the cost of materials and the loggers are not going to be able to fill the gap that quickly. There are going to be people staying in temporary shelters and the kids are going to have everything delayed and in some cases there will be no physical school to go to. IT will be hard on those that were to graduate this year and on those who's friend were injured and killed in these tornadoes. May God look over them and protect them.

Any idiot who comes back on the last sentence deserves to be slapped real hard.
