It's a fact that's all that is here. A bunch of poor people and the ones with money are cheap. They complain about a cup fo coffee at Boston Coffee House. They are the $1 McDonald types. Dollar stores and fast food a perfect fit for the city.

I not one of the poor in deltona and I can tell you I'm not cheap either. I have been in deltona for 26 years. Things have changed everywhere in every town in the USA,Deltona is no diff. It is what you do with what you have that counts! My family has had a nice life here and still do. If you don't like Deltona then don't live here.

who the hell can get out of here unless they give their house away. What a tired immature statement, don't live here. Me and many are stuck here. What the hell have we done with what we have. Pretty much nothing except waste money on big shot ideas while basics are ignored.
Not knowing where you came from and what your standards are maybe deltona is what you think is great. Bad taste isn't illegal.

agreed. Living in Deltona doesn't = i'm poor& cheap! We have been here for over 9 yrs, and we love it. My family and I are not doing bad for ourselves. I agree with the above comment: "what you do with what you have that counts" Get out of Deltona !the city council and its residents must make wiser choices and decisions on what type of businesses they allow to build here. It take a communnity to ensure the proper growth of a city that is full of potential for success!

Lets see wise choices. Waiting years to raise water rate taxes and then dropping a bomb of 17.25% increases on us for five years. How about that new garbage collection hike that they did and didnt bother to get bids on it so we dont know if we are getting a good rate with this high increase based on maybes. How about buidling a firehouse that cost us over $11 milion because we paid more for the land then necessary. It the city commission not council and they cant stop any legal business from opening here. What deltona is is what drive development here an it's dollar stores and fast food places. Who and how much residents make determines what comes here.
So what does the comment it's what you do with what you have that counts mean? That comment was made twice so what exactly does it mean? Give examples of what deltona has done that fits into that trite saying. So give me the long list pleez.

So you, like a couple others come on these threads and complain about your own neighborhood and then criticize anyone with a different point of view.

If you have city sewer, underground elect-cable and sidewalks you are paying in the area of $100 monthly on your Deltona Water bill which conveniently includes your garbage collection. If you are on septic without the other amenities, you are paying around $30 for water and garbage which is shamefully low and a rate that should have been addressed eons ago.

As the economy begins to improve, businesses will begin looking at Deltona which has a terrific built in work force, a good sized undeveloped commercial section located adjacent to the last undeveloped interchange on I-4 and one of the last in all of
Florida.

Personally, I don't care if you complain about what ails you which is apparently a lot more than your address. But you guy's come on here and lie about stuff,$11 million for a firehall is a lie and no one who can find this thread is dumb enough to believe that so why bother.

It doesn't really matter where I'm from,it's where I'm am now and for the last 26 years! Our family makes more money then most in Deltona (just under 2k a year. We live in a house we had built in 1985 for 49,000.00 on an income of 19k a year at the time. I'm one of the people who could pack up and move, but wont be doing that anytime soon. Life is what you make of it! Home is what you make of it! Stay away from the troubles and enjoy what deltona has to offer. We have had great luck with the schools and now have 2 adult now who work and go to daytona state and one plans to stay here and help by being a teacher in our schools right here in deltona. So again if you don't like it MOVE or Help!

Help and what would that entail? Should I get a red cape and fly around the city and fight crime and clean up the many dumps and rentals we have here cause code enforcement doesn't?

Again I'm not giving my house away. I'l invest in a vacation home so I dont have to spend more months here then necessary first.

You know nothing about what my expenses are. Stop generalizing to suit yoou point of view. Thanks for yupu permission allowing me to complain as you put it but it's not mandatory I have it.
No lies, land over $ 7 mil bldg over $3 mil you do the math. It's a just the way it is.
You did realize what the smucks that ran this city did and it was to not do anything undtil are backs were agianst the wall. Businesses are looking at deltona never said they weren't dollar stores and fast food joints. Not enough to keep educated workers here or future ones either.
Like the other poster who claims to make 2K a year, that's two grand I think they meant to impress and mean 200K a year. Yet they bitch about traveling to OC. If I believed that I would buy some swamp land.

I will agree that the city paid too much for the land and also that the developing arrangements were a tad on the kweer side. But the city got more than just a firehall didn't it?

Matter of fact, Howland Crossings might even pay for itself one of these days which is highly unusual for a municipal project. Stop
lying, it's right there for everyone (that has a vote) to see.

Hey, fine by me if you're disappointed with your Deltona experience, plenty of those who arrived during the past ten or so years paid too much and are stuck under water.

As I've suggested, take your losses and move on or at least quit complaining on internet threads that can be read by thousands and last forever.

Easy deal right?

What world do you live in? What do you think these forums are for? Thery are for discussion, agreement, disagreement and anything the poster wants as long as it doesn't violate rules. It's reality, try living in it.
I'll stop when murders stop, robberies stop, child and elder abuse I'll stop when government stop wasting tax money. I'll stop when government does what it should and not what it wants. I'll stop when other waco things stop.
We dont live in one of these days an the money blown to overpay for that land could have been a benefit to us.
Keep your head in the sand and dream world you created and it will change nothing.
I didn't overpay for my house but maybe you don't see a house as an investment but I do and so do most Americans except of course a Deltonan like you. You are Salmon swimming against the current.

Include the ones with their heads in the sand or up their butt that don't live in reality. They want to ignore what goes on here so they can act high and mighty. They want to pretend that deltona is a high class high brow city, what a pity.

I do live in deltona. If something is wanted or needed the person purchasing gets to say if they are overpaying for something.Give your advice to city government about overpaying and bragging and flying to high they love to overpay the difference is it's our money they squander.

OK "Walt". Now that you have expressed your "opinion", Why are you so afraid to say what town YOU are from? Fact is, you probably don't have enough change to eat from the dollar menu at McDonalds. In fact, I think you just might be that guy who was ranting about the cost of things at the dollar store the other day. What do you have against the Dollar store anyway? Admit it, they sell a lot of really good stuff. That's why Good Morning America recomended that we shop there for certain items. Could it be that you're jealous of the fact that a very savy investor has decided to build Dollar stores and put their name on the plastic bags so now you have to bring your own bags from Dillards and put your purchases in them so your neighbors don't know where you shop? You seem to be such an expert in Dollar stores and fast food places. By the way, in case some ignorant person asks you to dinner at a "sit down" restaurant with tablecloths and waiters and all that fancy stuff that you seem to be so uncomfortable with, the salad fork is the smaller one on your right. Use it first, and stop holding your soup spoon in your fist like a garage tool. It would also be advisable for you to park your old ugly car around back so that other people can't smell the cat pee on your tires. OH yeah, we all know who you are. LOLOL

Truth hurts, sounds like you've gotten into the holiday cheer already. Thanks for clearing up the fact that you are a proud citizen of our community. I would gladly pay more for better roads and higher teacher saleries, but our leaders are doing the best that they can with what they have to work with, and are actually doing a great job. It's up to us to assure that their decisions are in the best interests of our community. Well, must go cut the cheese. I am responsible for the antipasto for the evenings gathering. Here we are, just one big happy family.
Merry Christmas to you an yours.
