I pray that Navy Petty Officer Jesus Saenz, gets better and he will need a lot of help to deal with the crash as well as the loss of his friend Petty Officer Oscar Avila-Mendoza. To the family of Petty Officer Oscar Avila-Mendoza may you keep his memory alive in your hearts. Thank you to both families for your son's participation in the USN. RIP Petty Officer Oscar Avila-Mendoza

Thank you so much! it will be a hard road ahead of us and we could use all the prayers that we could get. thanks to the community, and public we have recieved a lot of support. my husband just got out of ICU yesterday and My husband will be needing intensive care for the next 8months... he sustained brain trauma and broke his whole left side of his body, From the ankle up to his elbow.(hip and pelvis) but we are very grateful that he is alive. It is so sad for our bestfriend though. His wife is due this saturday, and all because of some man that wanted to commit suicide... why take other peoples lives with you?:(

Bush and Cheney's decision to make the U.S. economy dependent of our country being in a permanent state of undeclared war for the benefits of the corporations will sooner rather than later do us in as a nation.

OH shut UP! you are part of the problem. A mentally ill person deciding what should happen in every one else's life. This is a sad story and the family did not deserve this.

My heart and prayers go out to the families. May God bless you all and to Mrs. Saenz, may God give you the strength you may need during this difficult time.
It's sad that these 2 men give their all to fight for us here in the U.S., yet they come home only to die or be hurt in the hands for a fellow American...
Again, may god bless you.

Although it wasn't much of a story it was enough to break my heart and keep you and your family and the family of your friend in my prayers. That is going to be a long recovery and yes very lucky that he is alive. If he doesn't already know about his friend make sure who ever breaks it to him, is very gentle with the news. Is there an address where cards can be sent? May God continue to watch over all of you, and may your husband recover fully. I also pray that all goes well for your friend during her delivery of her new little angel.
Yes it is very sad that one man is dead and another is in very serious condition all because another man wanted to commit suicide.

To Wife of Sole Survivor - I am very grateful that you posted news of your husband's situation but much more thrilled to learn that he is home recuperating with you by his side. There are a lot of us here in Malibu praying for his full recovery, I really hope that you can keep in touch with the local papers in town to keep us all informed of Jesus' recovery and the arrival of your baby. My neighbor was the gentleman who ran back to grab his fire extinguisher, he still seems quite shaken by the experience and I know he will be pleased to learn that Jesus is out of the hospital.
Take care of yourself, you have a long road ahead but you have a lot of support from the loved ones remaining at Pt. Hueneme and your new "friends" who want to replace that night with love and kindness as an appreciation for all that your husband and his best friend have done for every one of us.

Mrs. Saenz I'm hoping that Jesus is getting better and stronger each and every day. If there is an address to send cards to would you mind posting for us. I also pray that your friend had a safe delivery with her baby. God Bless all of you

Hello to all of you that have posted on this forum. I am sorry i never got back on here to check for replies! It has been a very very rough year. We are all doing as well as can be and Jesse has actaully started running this past week. He has recovered very well and very fast. He had a few surgeries in september and suffered an infection in his leg. It is real hard to heal a broken tibia bone. He is a stron man and recovered fast, thanks to god! Our son was born the day after he came home from the hospital. Jesse was in a rehab and had to learn to walk and also was getting his "mind" straight :)... he did get his memory back and the recovery process was a bit easier :).... he does not however remember the night of the accident. ANYHOW, I am writing this because I am hoping to get into contact with the neighbor that put the fire out! my husband wants to thank him and talk to him.
WE WASNT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS, AND COMMENTS. you will never know how much such "simple" words could inspire someone... especially someone dealing with the loss of a friend. THANK YOU ALL!!
