I just wonder if similar debates occurred 100 years ago when coal usage was giving way to petroleum usage or horses were giving way to automobiles.

The rhetoric of this proposition aside, I just believe that we need to be moving towards replacing fossil fuels with renewable or cleaner energy sources. It will surely be more expensive at the beginning, but where would we be if the country didn't invest in automobiles in place of horses?

Interesting read.

Why is it that trying to keep the planet habitable is a liberal thing?

And on a very unscientific observation....

I recall the air in Los Angeles in the mid 70's - early 80's as almost continuously brown, especially in the summer. The population in LA in 1980 was a little under 3 million, and it now is a little over 4 million.

But even with a million more people in the city, and more cars on the road, the air is clearer today than 30 years ago. Why is that?

I can only assume it is from stricter regulations on air quality compliance. The average MPG of cars is higher than before, engines run cleaner, and businesses/factories have had to comply as well.

Doesn't everyone, Republican and Democrat, enjoy clean air and water?

They are... The people behind these initiatives are doing an excellent job of using stooges to insure *their* survival at the expense of *yours*.

You appear to be talking about something else here. The topic at hand is the fact that there's no proof that future Green Technology will cost less, create more jobs, and be better for the Earth. In no way were we talking about the Bible or God.

The word FAITH can refer to God, BUT in the context I used it, FAITH in what the Environmental Groups claim has NOTHING to do with religion.

Well it didn't take long folks...

Prop 23 hasn't even gone into effect, yet my dry cleaners is now charging ten cents a garment more for an "Environmental Surcharge".

Look for postings where you do business.

It's only just beginning....

Capitalism man, it's called CAPITALISM! Businesses are going to rape you at every chance they can and blame said rape on people who want clean air and water. Thanks for proving it to everyone.

Welfare socialist sucking state does all this garbage and expects other state to pay for it. Hopefully one day the other states will find a way to stop the leeching by this Socialist state!

Are you aware that Cualifornia pays more in federal taxes than they receive back from the fed? Caulifornis and a couple of other states pay for most of those "Interstate" highways in most other states. Caulifornis and a couple of other states pay for all those "military bases in most other states like Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

That's right, we're the 6th largest econimy in the world and I for one am tired of paying for all those red states.
