The media's discussion on AB 32 and Prop 23 is bereft of economic analysis. The cost of renewable electricity is two to six times as high as currently produced electricity.
In CA, we'll pay more for electricity. It's that simple. That'll drive the cost of manufacturing in CA higher. Manufacturers located in China or Texas won't incur these costs. Guess where the new green manufacturing jobs will go.

Elias, your never at a loss for getting the story half right. First off, if you knew anything about industries and equipment that produce emissions you would know there is NO GHG emission mitigating technology. Second, did you see the election results? There will not be another state that will adopt a CAP and Trade system. Want to bet?Calfornia will stand alone and its economy will die on the vine. You mentioned green companies investing in CA and forgot the high profile story's of the ones that have left just recently. Your rhetoric leading up to the election in a series of articles was both out of touch with the practical reality of business impacts on the economy and a true understanding of the real jobs that will be lost. Answer a question in your next article, when all these high paying, high tax paying, high philantrophic contributors disappear who will take there place? The highly government subsidized green jobs. They will not be able to afford to make their product (without subsides)let alone pay there taxes, provide an affordable product or give back to the community. Do your homework and get into Kool-Aid rehab before writing another sloppy partisan article.

The California voters' "green" insanity just guaranteed that the state will go bankrupt. We went far Left just as the rest of the nation went to the Right.
But this is a good thing. The Republican House will be in no mood to bail out the profligate, buffoons who run California. So in receivership, all the bloated government employee salaries and obscene defined benefit pensions will just hafta be renegotiated.
Sux to be you, state employees.

Prop 23 funding
Big Oil raised $10.6 million vs Big Greenís $31.2 million
Big Greenís $31.2 million
Tom Steyer, a hedge fund manager
National Wildlife Federation
John Doerr and Vinod Khosla
A hedge fund manager? Isnít that what George Soros is? Isnít George Soros the guy that goes around bankrupting countries with his hedge funds?
We get 40 percent of our energy from out of state. Why is that?
Our energy generation is:
45.7% Natural Gas
18.2% Coal (this is the only dirty one)
11.0% Large Hydro
There are some really good tools for researching these people, one is www.muckety.com
Type in National Wildlife Federation and you will be provided with all their connections. One was Alliance for Climate Protection.
Double click on the Alliance for Climate Protection and there will be other connections, such as Carol Browner.
Now go to http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/summary.as ...
Look up Browner, Carol
Here you will see she is a board member of the Alliance for Climate Protection, an organization founded by Al Gore.
APX Inc which specializes in environmental commodities markets. She will be making money off of this, Cap and Trade.
The George Soros funded Center for American Progress
The League of Conservation Voters
Thereís that name again, George Soros, the guy that makes his money destroying countries.
She was also a commissioner of Socialist International (SI). The umbrella group for 170 social democratic, socialist and labor parties in 55 countries.
SIís organizing document cites capitalism as the cause of devastating crises, mass unemployment, imperialist expansion, and colonial exploitation worldwide.
Hey, colonial exploitation, isnít there a new book out there attributing that outlook to Obama? See http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2010/0927/politi ...
For a good read on Obama.

We don't NEED no stinkin private sector jobs! That's all Capitalist propaganda that will now be disproven once and for all. With Democrats fully in charge there will be a New Day here in California as we usher in the Green Tech to save the planet! We'll have government jobs with excellent pay and pensions. Working conditions will be fantastic. Education will be a top priority and will finally be affordable for ALL. Of course tax rates for the rich will have to go up but that's not a problem. If they don't like it they can leave--it's just more for the rest of us.
The coming years will be terrific. All the fear mongering by the fascist, reactionary, Repuglican, whacko, rightwingers can now be put on Ignore. They can leave too.
I just thought I'd give you rational people something to laugh at this morning. Ain't none of this Pollyanna stuff above gonna happen...except more folks gonna leave this state that Chief Executive Obama will have to declare a disaster zone shortly.
