He allegedly murdered someone. If found guilty he should have to do some time for it.

Even if the victim was sexually harassing the male students and/or the alleged murderer and acting effeminate gives no justification for murder or violence of any kind. I don't think I've ever heard of a straight women killing a straight man because he sexually harassed her, flirted with her, or made passes at her.

Straight men need to look at a gay man making a pass at them as a woman they are not interested in. I never hear of men killing ugly women who flirt with them. There is no need or justification for violence.

No one deserves to be murdered because they act a certain why whether it be like a jerk, feminine, masculine, dorky, lame, geeky, or nerdy.

Well, this brings on a big ol' "duhh!" Why am I not surprised? This answers many questions I had about this sad case.

What is depressing is that our cranky friends are going to be supporting a gang member now because of whom he killed.

That detective's logic is hilarious!

"Because the gangs act this way, he must have been influenced by a gang". His parents, who have legal obligation to maintain and control his behavior until he is no longer a dependant, seem to have no blame in this...

Just how DID he get the gun in the first place?

NOWHERE in that article was there ANY evidence of B.M. belonging to , or being influenced by any gang. The officer offered an OPINION with ZERO evidence to support it.

Oh, then it is perfectly reasonable that a kid would decide to settle problems with a gun, just like a gang member, but since you don't believe the officer, he's a good clean normal boy, who just happens to be on trial for pre-mediated murder, OK? Gotcha!

I hate it how they always make the gay victim out to be the bad guy. They act like it's more okay to kill someone if they're gay but if the victim were straight the defendant wouldn't have all these defenses. It's like the defense and prosecution have a common enemy: the victim and they work together to see that the defendant gets the least possible.

It is perfectly reasonable to expect a kid with an abusive father to resort to violence to settle his problems. The Officer offers NO evidence to support his gang theory, nothing zero, zilch. You lack the ability to analyze this event fairly because you identfy with the victims sexuality, plain and simple. You over-react and make assumptions that are wildly inaccurate.

Well, why do YOU think he resorted to deadly violence so quickly? Where did he get the gun? What was his motivation? Why are you so quick to molly coddle the killer? Unless YOU wish it had been YOU aiming the gun?

I don't think he resorted to violence quickly. I think he stewed for a while and his irrational anger grew. I think he came from an abusive household where violence was the norm. I think Larry made a fatal mistake when he taunted a deeply disturbed individual who over-reacted. That my friend is an honest assessment and nowhere is there any molly coddling.Whats at play here is sympathetic persecution complex overload. Larry picked the wrong guy to taunt and paid with his life.I don't think Brandon was just a run of the mill "homophobe". I believe he was a damaged kid from an abusive home. No excuses,he must pay for his crime but make no mistake larry bears some responsibility for his own death. You play and you may have to pay. You can never tell who you're messing with and what they may be capable of.

I think instead of the word "reasonable" you actually meant, "expected." It's expected that a child from a violent home would resort to violence, but it is not an excuse.

A lot of people grow up in broken homes, and they don't shoot a child twice in the back of the head, execution style, in a room full of other children.

Brandon had multiple drawings of swastikas in his notebooks that were seized by police. That's a pretty good sign that you're dealing with a white supremacist and a hatemonger.

Kids that age seize upon many different symbols for shock value. He was an abused damaged kid who was taught through the actions of his father that violence is how you deal with things. If some people NEED to label someone a "white supremist" or "homophobe" to create a boogeyman so be it.

It was a reasonable expectation to make that a child from a violent household would solve his problem with violence.

Doesn't make it right, and it isn't much of an excuse. I never drew swastikas when I was a teenager.

Create a boogeyman? Are you kidding me? Brandon has already killed someone. How much more proof do you need?

That doesn't make it excusable.

Brandon is a messed up kid froman abusive home that murdered someone to "solve" his own particular dilemma.

The NEED tp explain or assign blame beyond that is just posturing for political points.

The swastikas, and the rest off the demonizations are just BS.
