Union co jail does not check on inmates like their job should require them to. The people working in union county jail are all lazy and slide by with the least amount of work that they can possibly do. Jeremy meltabarger and many more employees at the union co jail are very rude and let power go to their head. These so called corrections officers are a discrace to society. They are pushing people around while in custody and taking personal matters out on inmates. I think these "officers" that are supposed to be taking care of or guarding the in mates need to be watched and this needs to be stopped. These man and women are treating people however they feel like it and getting away with it. I want everyone reading this to imagine getting shoved around by someone triple your size and strength and thrown into "the hole" which is a 4x4 ish cell with nothing but block wall and concrete floor.. And no one can hear you and no one checks on you for hours or until they feel like it... And please remember that not all inmates are in jail for very bad things... Simple driving charges.... Maybe someone made a mistake or has an addiction that landed them there but remember everyone is still someone's little girl or son or mother or father and no one deserves to be treated the way union county jail is allowed to treat people. It's the worst feeling to feel alone and scared and to be pushed around when there is nothing you can do about it.

Here is a novel thought. If the jail is that BAD do all you can to clean up your act and stay out of jail!!!! I am not disagreeing with all you are saying BUT they are not there to constantly guard you, thats what the bars are for. Caring for you!! What care were you denied? Most people that are in jail are there for a reason. They didn't follow the rules like the rest of us. THEY BROKE THE LAW. SIMPLE driving charges get you a ticket, not jail time. DUI, drugs, multi unanswered traffic charges, failure to appear etc will generally get your A## locked up. Bad decisions, not mistakes will get your A## locked up. Addiction is not always your fault BUT IN MOST CASES IT IS. Following the rules will keep your A## OUT of jail and as ANITA would say; Get A Job!!!

It would help if we had a sheriff that cared about the people, Not just sitting home getting a sheriffs pay check, He could give a rats ass about you or me or anyone else, If he was a real sheriff he would be out working like david ray in tazewell or jj jones in knoxville, But hes never working never answers his phone, There has even been officers that has try to call him and he want answer, So why did he give out cards with his cell phone number and tell people to call if they needed him when its a bunch of bull he just wanted people to think he had changed well he has hes got worse, Look who he has put in charge now don't that tell you he don't care, Well look at kelly Yount he let him work for him, And look at kenny,TJ,Steve,Rodney, Just to name a few should i say more, Jr and his so called dept needs to go 2014

These same inmates don't seem to be to concerned about how they treat the public when they are thieving, drugging, drinking and driving, beating their wives, not paying child support, and yet they do the boo-hoo thing when they are treated like the scum they are. Here's a quarter "boys", call someone that cares.

i am actually a girl. i hate dumb people. like i probably said days ago that people go to jail for dumb shit like driving w no license and that doesnt make you a criminal people. or not being able to pay a fine cause ur a struggling single mother can get you arrested and union county makes up the bond for each person and sets it at what they want to. this isnt fair in a small town.

So I'm a dumbass because I am a law-abiding citizen and did know that Union county jail has mwtal doors instead of bars and that makes you LOL? Apparently you know your way around the jail. I don't. LOL. What happened, did you call someone dumbass and get your ass whipped before the jailer could get there to protect and care for you? LOL. Is the jailer supposed to stand outside the mwtal door just in case? How many mwtal doors are there in Union county jail? Why were you in jail? Bet it wasn,t for a SIMPLE first time traffic violation like no seat belt,no insurance or expired tag. Try keeping your nose clean and obey the law and you won't find yourself in that sort of a predicment and you can LOL your ass off.

Does anyone think the jailmates commit abuse? I hear they do. The law should not have to take abuse from these inmates. The law is reated by doctors and hospitals all the time caused by abuse when arresting or at the jail. I suggest staying out of harms way and it will benefit everyone; the offender, the law and the already burdened taxpayor. It seems fair to me that if the offender gives the law a hard time it should be given back.

I heard that in Union County "laundy day is Mondy" - and that makes me LOL. They just don't have really bright lights up there. The jailers and cops are no better than the inmates. And a federal probe into one's death might shed some light on a "small town, big lie" scheme. But there are a lot of "small towns" out there. I agree that if you don't want the punishment of jail, don't get in trouble, but its more about who you know than what you know.

It's not anybody fault that the boy died it was his time to go or he would still be here and I seen in the paper that he didn't die from drugs his death was undetermined so stop blaming CO's or inmates. Even if he did die from a over dose it's still no bodys fault but his self
