The cemetery is going to happen. The company has drastically cut back its plans based on input from the neighbors. 750 graves, down from 7500 on 10 acres, down from 50 acres, and now they have a 1000 ft buffer on all sides. Still, neighbors are not satisfied. Well you just can't please some folks. They will gripe no matter how many concessions are made. So if they want a fight...they'll get it. Personally, I think the company has bent over backwards for its neighbors. They've gone far beyond what the average citizen would have done to asuade the ignorant.

do your research phillip.. they have not bent over backwards.. nor forwards.. have you been to the land.. i live nearby... i would love to see those buffers... oh yeah .. i cant.. you cannot see something that is not there.... let them use knoxville,ga for a "dead body" dumping ground..

As a matter of fact I sit on the corporate board of the Summerland Group, Inc. The buffers are green space silly. You can't see them because they look like the rest of the property.

They don't own land in Knoxville. They own industrial zoned land in Bibb County. BTW...the dumping ground you refer to will be the eternal resting place of people's remains. It will be blessed, sacred ground to many.

Green cemeteries are some of the most ecological friendly of all industries. Perhaps you'd rather have a trailer park up on that hill, or maybe you'd prefer some timber company come and cut down all the trees. We want to preserve the land.

I'm quite sure I've done my research.

For interested parties who might be interested in being buried in their backyards: I believe the law states that you must own 5 acres free and clear. I don't think you can bury someone if the bank holds a mortagage on your property.

So now you are bringing in trailor jokes.. who do you think you are.. "summerland group inc".. yeah i have done my research... according to my research .. this is a "contracting" company ..heating.. air.. whatever else a contractor might do.. also, dont down play the people of this county.. just because you and your group think that this is so much better.. we dont.. what is the point of being burried if it is in a place that is not wanted.. dont play jokes with me or my fellow twiggs county people.. we have fought bigger that you and summerland.. the worst thing that you and your group should do is talk down to the people that live in this area.. we may have "agreements" to dissagree with each other.. but we dont want any outside party talking about anyone in our neighborhood. that is when we unite as one ..

LOL....you are too funny Lucy. We are not a heating and air contractor. Perhaps there is another company with the same name.

Actually, we'd be happy to sell to you and your neighbors. All you have to do is promise to keep it a green space.

In the meantime, the wheels keep turning. P&Z will in all probability will approve us, and you should be seeing a sign go up soon.

Happy grumbling!:)

who is grumbling -
In regards to the "long leaf" pine.. "BETH" stated in the meeting that these trees were "WEEDS" .. are you more irritated that Twiggs County does not want you .. or the fact that your "green" cemetery is not wanted anywhere in the surrounding areas.. bibb, twiggs, jones, houston, craw ford.. ect ect ect... You must be the "teacher" i wonder if the boe would take kindley to you speaking so ignorantly about people who live in "trailors".. or any of this other garbage..

I agree Lucy....
also, what is so funny ... beth stated that she is not putting up any money for a BOND. And she also stated that she will not be able to hire an attny if even our water is contaminated... also, if you are able to sneak a "green" dumping ground in.. then how are you planning on compensating the property owners that loose value of their land.. yes this will happen .. read case law ... it is in there...
--- have you also told the people of this area that the "dump" will be . that yes you might have a burrier... but it will be the ashes of dead people... wow.. that is safe... whatever...

Cremains (the ashes of those who have been cremated are extremely safe. Maybe I'll change my plans and have my ashes scattered over the length of Davis Road past the cemetery.

How would you feel if I referred to cemeteries where you or your loved ones will be buried as a dump?

Does honest civil debate naturally cause you guys to get nasty? Or are you always mean?

God bless you anyway.

Is it true that residents on Davis Road were offereed municipal water when the landfill opened? I'm just asking, because that's a rumor I've heard.

To: say no to green dumping

You'll have to give me more information in order for me to read the "case law" you refer to. I will volunteer however, that everything I've read shows that land with access to greenspace, which I'm sure we would grant such access, causes property values to rise.

i have no problems with anyone.. this is not an honest civil debate.. the people (summerland) are not being honest.. time and time again you have stumbled over your words and back tracked ...

You are quite the odd one lucy, and I'm tired so I will concede the fight. Perhaps I'll be haunting you soon enough. Thank you for making my remains feel so welcome in your loving community. Your harsh judgments have been most enlightening. The last word is yours. See you on the hill.

I will never welcome dead human corpses in a "3" foot grave that have the ability to harm myself and my family with toxins.

-- just a question? would you like to have this in your area? why or why not?

Discoveries have shown that this cemetery would pose a severe threat to the surrounding neighbors. I highly advise moving these plans to a less populated area. Also, the water aquifer will be an enourmous issue. In regards to above, and hasardous waste is and will always be considered a "dump" Lucy, I must say, you are doing an excellent job. Thank you for your consern with the health and wellbeing of our city, county, state and nation.

I just think that this is so funny. "green burial". When will you and "earth-mother" get the picture. NO ONE wants you in their county. I agree with Lucy and Bill. You look down on people. Why do you think you are so much better that anyone? Your group is not wanted. It makes me ashamed to even know Beth. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Talking to the nice people of Bibb and Twiggs county. I have never met a nicer group of people than those in Twiggs County. They will come together and fight. When the "rubber meets the road" they stand up for each other. Where else can you find a county so loyal to each other. GO AWAY !
