Reducing the fire load is of paramount importance. The people in rural areas have been pleading for this step for years. But the environmentalists always win. Another problem that has to be remedied is the Foirest Service's lack of road repair. If a fire erupts, those roads need to be passable for the equipment necessary to fight those fires. A few years ago a large fire erupted in our area, and the roads that we had asked to be repaired were not able to get the needed equipment where it needed to go. If you can ever get an honest answer from the people in the Forest Service, you will see that they DO NOT want these roads repaired. Their honest answer is that they don't want people in those areas!

The USFS has tried to log, and thin trees, but the tree huggers find a liberal judge that will not allow them to do so. The prime example is the Angora fire that left trees that could be removed and used for building instead of getting lumber from Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Once again our environmentalists found a another nut to refuse to let the removal of the dead trees.
I guess all the John Muir's already have homes made from timber, and do not want anyone else to have home.
