My parents used to get off work, and 1 of them would hit the store on the way home to buy 2 cases of beer. 1 for him and 1 for her. They did this every day of the week. On saturdays, my mother would go to the grocery store and buy 4 cases, to last through sunday. Of course, she was usually drunk when she went.

This past election, we had a lot of early voting in Tippecanoe county, with polls set up in several locations. And other than November 4th, and sundays, you could purchase alcohol in stores and bars.

The laws are outdated, and should be changed. Sunday is no longer a day of rest. If it was, stores, factories and service companies would be closed. The only businesses that would be open are the churches. And election day now covers 2 weeks. So you might as well allow the sales on that 1 tuesday as well.

At the same time, some judge wagging his finger and telling Joe DUI "Now, no, don't do that again." isn't working either. The punishment for DUI needs to be drasticly changed. How about a minimum of 1yr in jail, with NO early release for the first time, 3yrs in prison the second time (again, NO early release), and 10yrs flat for the 3rd and beyond.

And call a DUI resulting in the loss of human life what it really is: FIRST DEGREE PREMEDITATED MURDER.
