I hope the supervisors and public realize how important this program is to effectively deal with drug addicted offenders. Not only is it extremely cost-effective relative to incarceration, it actually rectifies the underlying problems and can turn otherwise lost souls into productive members of society.

Such programs are not soft-on crime, but highly effective harsh reality based treatments for substance abusers to realize their unhealthy behavior and avoid situations that can lead to relapse. When combined with ongoing counseling and community support healthy outcomes prevail and recidivism is dramatically reduced.

This model has been used successfully in many, many communities throughout the country over the last decade.

So, even if it has not been proven beyond a doubt to be effective in Tehama County (due to the small number of people in the program that you were wise to recognize) I am sure that people are confident that the model's sucess in other communities is reason enough to state that the program is beneficial.

Sincerely I am sure this program may be good and have up sides but i personally this as a way for criminals to get off! I know personally people that did not even have drug related charges said they were using so the didnt get much jail time! Craziness and frustrating to say the least.
