The party to be compensated in this contract, Swain County, has agreed to accept a different form of compensation than originally agreed upon. Business law provides that if both parties to a contract agreed to amend the contract, it is legal to change it.

I agree with the writer let the affected people vote.
The current politicians want a quick fix - their solution is to throw money around and everyone will be happy. Bull.

Is it illegal to break the contract?

And apparently to some REPS such as Dole who has teamed up with TN to keep all the Park tourism trade west of the smokies in Heaths real true love.

You must realize the Commissioners who rolled on the road did that after being for the road previous to their election. This Comission can not be trusted, how can Heath and Elizabeth put 52 million into the hands of someone who is under investigation for voter intemidation?

Charles Taylor was our elected rep for 16 years and was for road construction. Previous Swain Boards of Commissioners were FOR road construction. Heath Shuler is a puppet of the crazed leftist environmental movement, and represents TN not Swain County. Partisan politicals are also at work.

What is it going to hurt to build these folks a road to the cemeteries? It doesn't have to be nothing fancy. For crying out loud!! Their ancestors were promised a road!! I suppose Dole thinks money is a cure all. And why should Swain Co. get this money? How about giving some to the folks whose ancestors were promised this road. Crap, just build a road---it is done everyday all over.

Good luck out there HazelCreek!!!
