Ex-Vernon man given 364 days jail time

A former mental health counselor and minister who lived in Vernon for several years without registering as a sex offender received the maximum sentence from a Superior Court judge on Tuesday.

How could he get a job at Newton Mem. Hosp. as counsler. They don't check his background? He must have counsled young kids while he worked there. Unbelievable..........

Obviously no one did a backround check on him. I just hope he didn't live in my neighborhood.
