Is this Vernon Taxpayers Association a new political party? Why are they seeking candidates?

It's an activist group looking for power and control (and money)

It seems that Vernon's old government was filled with people looking for money.
No surprise there.
Padding their own pockets with shady deals done under the table and behind closed doors not to mention the stealing that went on.
If what we had didn't work for so many years maybe this new team of people will help make it right.
God only knows it couldn't possibly get any worse .... Um ... I think ....

It definitely could get worse--but we won't know that for over a year. First we have everybody and their brother running around , campaigning, begging for signatures, money etc to get on the May ballot, signs for 10+ candidates all over the place, May election ($$) "birth" of the new government July 1, 2011--then 6-12 months of revising large portions of the town code and more questions than answers from the "new" people.

Think they are hoping that in a year or two, people will forget it was supposed to be better.
