besides being the longest little job in bridge history here in wv it is also one of the dumbest traffic pattern changes I have seen in years. In the case of the traffic pattern sticking to the original scheme of things made a whole lot more sense. However, I dont have a degree in traffic planning and management so what do I know.

they put those white pegs up again... they will only last until our next good snow fall.... the plow will take care of them lOL. what an idiot who ever came up with the traffic pattern. but thats ok, the big trucks take care of the stupid barrels they put up and the snow plow will get rid of the pegs.

Another BAD pattern was the changes at the bellpoint bridges also. They didnt have to change all that just to add new bridges

They made the road that way to slow people down. If it was straight like before, people could fly through there. Safety first.

Its my understanding the white pegs are to be eventually replaced with guardrail.

The engineers that designed the bridge meant well. We all complained about the holes in the previous bridge, and whether it was safe or not, now we have a bridge because of poor design could be used in a law suit because of defective design.

it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out... what ever is hitting them has to have something on the front of it to keep it from damaging the vehicle (such as a snow plow) and the fact they disappeared right after that last big snow fall we had

WEll , call Lewisburg and get it changed , if enough call...If not it will take several bad wrecks to get it done...Some of our elected officals could also help ..People will die if it is not changed from hits in the side of the cars and trucks....I also heard that Dale Jr was coming down here to practice on it as a road course..

The only accidents at that end of the bridge in my 30 years memory were always involving cars turning across the bridge toward talcott or coming off the bridge turning left toward peterstown. I dont ever recall an accident from or involving a car that was simply going up the river toward peterstown. this is just another example of something not being broke but some "engineer" wanted to fix it anyway. to put a curve in an otherwise straight stretch of road is one of the most idiotic things I have witnessed. common sense sometimes goes away when education is involved.

the new bridge is a wonderful peice of work I agree, the access from the Hinton side of it is still idiotic and without a doubt a dangerous factor. again, the bridge is great the access sucks.

While I know where this thread is about, I have only been there once since the new bridge was built. I am trying to picture in my mind just what the complaint is. It runs in my mind that at one time traffic coming off the bridge had the right-of-way??

My wife and I have been most fortunate in that we were able to travel a bit. It soon became clear that the highway engineers, no matter where, spend entirely too much time in the office and no enough out at the actual site. How else to explain some to the assine designs and signage..

However, I am quite willing to give the devil his due. It seems the engineers are in a constant battle to prevent the many idiots on the road today from killing themselves or someone else.

My area has gained some notoriety for the number of accidents at railroad crossings. There has yet to be an instance where the train left the track.

Sadly, the latest incident cost a young man his life when he tried to beat an Amtrac train.

The latest gimmick is a row of poles on the center line hopefully preventing drivers from crossing over and around the gate.

Start with calling the Lewisburg DOH district office, Summers County DOH will have the number if you are not able to locate it yourself. After that, start calling Charleston and complaining. The more complaints they get, the better. Maybe if enough complaints are received something will be done.
