no "friend", i am not a detective. I am the furthest thing from it- In fact i have had a personal run-in w/some of these POS's and it just kills me that so much effort can be put into prosecuting petty crimes that don't make a difference either way, and these guys, who are running wild doing anything they want, will probably get off somehow... even w/all the clear evidence against them. the system is screwed up more than ever and I'm sure this is only the surface. you would think w/the money these assholes are getting paid they wouldnt feel the need to do these types of crimes, or any crimes at all for that matter. the sad truth is that this situation will never change because THE POLICE ARE THE BIGGEST GANG AROUND AND THEY WILL DO WHAT THEY HAVE TO TO PROTECT EACH OTHER AND ULTIMATELY SAVE FACE- NO MATTER WHAT THE COST....

Jury just came back, guilty on all 15 counts. Judge Hudson set bail at $500,000 cash or $1 million bond. The defense attorneys liked to laugh at the prosecutor during the trial - funny, they weren't laughing today.

The prosecution has rested and Tom Spota has conveniently left on a long vacation so he can avoid severe embarrassment. This overzealous DA and malicious prosecutor are unjust. ADA Peter Timmons should be sued civilly and charged with civil rights violations and prosecutorial misconduct.
Mr. Montefusco, please sue all the people involved. And call Eliot Spitzer too. Suffolk County has to stop thinking they are above the law!
Still feel this way? I bet Peter Timmons would love to see this- I just might have to call him

AS PROMISED I AM POSTING. YES, HE WAS FOUND GUILTY ON THE 15 COUNTS. BIGGEST TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE EVER COMMITTED. YOU WIN, AND WE LOSE AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. NOT STOPPING YET, JUST GOING TO TAKE A BREATHER FOR A WHILE.

HIS WIFE DID STAND BEHIND HIM BUT THERE WAS A CIRCUMSTANCE THAT EMBARRASSED HER AND SHE WAS ANGRY. SIMPLE AS THAT. NO, SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE SHOWED HER EMOTIONS. BUT SHE NEVER BELIEVED HER HUSBAND DID IT AND I TOLD HER ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN SUFFOLK COUNTY....AND IT DID.

Friend of Ray?? You accuse people of not putting a name and yet neither do you..As far as 'friend', Ray doesn't have friends, Just girls that he Banged with no self esteem!!If you're a guy then I guess the same goes for that..Still Guilty!!!
you are right.. i should have put my name on there. If you are a friend of Ray's you will know who i am and you should know how to get in touch w/me and you can tell me to my face the things you need to say,but i doubt you will have the courage to.

All i have to say it that it was a sad day to see such a good friend of mine and of many others that ray was found guilty and put behind bars. He does not belong there. My heart goes out to him and his family especially his little girl. We all are still behind him no matter what!!

All those who have been trash talking the cops because you weren't able to get the job, let it go. All those who are trashing the cops because YOU got caught doing whatever it was you were doing, let it go. All those who are friends of Ray, you too are probably still on a bit of a roid rage, let it go. He's guilty, he abused the system, embarrassed real cops and the job, and got what he deserves. He scammed the system, fellow police officers and his poor ex-wife, now he can find out how to buy cigarettes and magazines on 3/4's of a nice salary, which by the definition of the job, he never earned. Adios Ray Ray and can I have your membership to the tanning salon, you won't be needing it. PS To all of Ray Rays FRIENDS, take the plea, Probation=GOOD.....Jail=BAD.

Those of us at the trial, yesterday, and today, know that Ray-Boy's wife was not happy with him. She saw him for what he is. She saw him parade his girls at the trial to testify for him. Why didn't is wife get up and testify for him, too. Oh, by the way, Ray should pass Tom F. , Jenn's original boyfriend, on his way into priosn. Maybe Tommy F. can get his girl back.

and this is part of what this is really all about. he didn't parade his ex wife, it was the DA who did that. The weasels who interviewed her asked her if she wanted a panic alarm in her house. he had not seen or spoke to her in 8yrs. The other girl was brought in to testify that she took a trip with him on the day he was accused of doing a robbery with the informant. because of the laws of evidence and u can't compel the us govt to answer a subpoena verifying his status of being out of the country it was necessary to bring the ex gal in to tesitfy to the use of his credit card and to confirm his being in Spain.

What was his wife going to testify to anyway.

Maybe someday Tom F and Ray can pass Tom's coke taking friend there too. You know who he is dont' you?

get tired of me as u want. he got framed and you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

It's hard to believe that he was convicted with the evidence shown at trial. I was there throughout some of the trial, watching the prosecution thugs lie on the stand. I find it hard to believe that the jury could possibly put any weight into what they said, and that was the whole case. I'm still behind you Ray, and if you or your family need anything,,,call.
Also, there is absolutely no reason to include Ray's wife in this forum. I can't imagine what she's going through, so please lay off.

From hat I know of this case and the Marty Tankleff case, nothing would surprise me as to how low the DA's office will stoop to secure and protect a conviction regardless of the guilt or innocence of the defendant. Sadly, the public doesn't know the truth about the Suffolk County Court system that those of us who watch it far more closely know.

Ray scammed the system and somehow retired on disability. Disabled REALLY? Look at his personal life and watch what he does (or did) during his free time. Disabled REALLY? Now he was found guilty by a jury of his peers. I believe he is guilty! He is a scammer! He is a lier! We was a dirty cop! Now I hope he faces the truth and becomes a model prisoner!! It is sad that someone whould get the chance to become a Suffolk cop and ruin it!

It is true that Raymond was convicted by a jury just as Martin Tankleff was. A bit of irony. The prosecutor in this case, Peter Timmons also prosecuted a guy by the name of Peter Kent. In fact, Timmons was so alarmed by Kent's extemely violent history, he begged the parole board to not allow him free on parole because he feared for the safety of the public. This is the same Peter Kent that ADA Leonard Lato now says couldn't possibly be suspected, along with Joey "Guns" Creedon (they don't call him "Guns" for nothing) of murdering Marty Tankleff's parents in Belle Terre in 1988. That is, as long as Kent continues to deny his involvement (like he would implicate himself in a double homicide). Priceless, huh? Oh, it gets much better. See, guys "on the job" have to understand something. If you justify cops perjuring themselves and prosecutors suborning perjury to secure convictions of guilty guys, they can do the same thing to innocents guys like you. Think cops won't perjure themselves to get other cops purely for their own personal gain? Think again. It happened to me and it has happened to many other guys. I don't know the whole story on Ray Montefusco because I wasn't there but I know enough about this case to know that prosecutors had no problem playing fast and loose with the facts to make their case. Remember the old adage, "What comes around, goes around." He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. So ye sow, so shall ye reap.

Jay We feel for the family and friends of Ray. We the Jury felt that there was definitely enough evidence to convict Ray on all counts. We were sorry that we had to make a decision like that about an ex police officer, but he got himself in that position, not us. Mr. Timmons and all the SC detectives did an excellent job on this case. Ray's attorney did not. Mr. Gianelli wanted us to feel for Ray in his closing arguments, sorry feelings weren't apart of our verdict. We don't believe Ray was being set up by anyone. Let's get real, how many times can you say it's just coincidence!!!!!!

"Close to the case as WELL" its a shame so many people have so much to say about Ray. A lot of people dont realize how corrupt Suffolk County is "SPOTA" one day hopefully sooner he will get his. Its terrible to see someones innocence can be taken away based the words of three losers. Ray has always been innocent.

Marty Tankeloff? I guess OJ and Baretta were innocent too. Wake up bud, jury of his peers. I know Ray, yes, nice, personable guy, but he did it. This is no conspiracy, he got caught, end of story. I know it must be hard when you're a friend of his to see him nailed, but he did it. He was a big boy who made crappy decisions, decisions that most adults and many SCPD officers have too make every day. Fortunately all the SCPD officers I know and associate with make the right ones. You can mention names and situations you have heard about other SCPD officers, most of which I am sure are fabricated or exaggerated, and if they're true, they don't belong on this job either. And I hope they have been or will be nailed also and 99% of the cops I know feel the same way. Those 401 scamming, roid dealing ones we read about are no friends of ours and only make our job harder trying to explain to misguided, naive people like you.

Hardly seems the evidence was 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. I have to question whether the jury connected too many dots without enough evidence. A good closing statement is not 'evidence'

I know the justice system isn't perfect, but we better be 99.5% sure before we convict somebody. I am not sure I would be able to sleep at night after convicting someone on this.

Not so sure: The closing argument wasn't just invented out of whole cloth, it was based on three weeks of testimony from over 30 witnesses and a few hundred items entered into evidence. "Beyond a reasonable doubt" is not beyond ALL doubt, although I don't see how there could really be any doubt with the evidence presented.

For those who suggested a frame job, WHO framed Montefusco? The DA's office? His fellow police officers? How in the world could his partners in crime have invented a story to "frame" him, by picking a four year old burglary that he just happened to be the only officer to respond to? How would they know that? And how did he get to the crime scene only 13 seconds after the call came over the radio? And cleared it about 10 seconds later?? That ALONE convinced me of his guilt.
