Leon - your comments are lack truthful information.

Charlie and Rose wanted that recipe to be in the family. These are called "Family traditions" or plain old morals. Family legacies. Charlie would be rolling in his grave if anyone gave out that recipe. Its not about it being a 'legend' its about it being a part of our family that we shared with the community for SO many years. We don't NEED to share it with anyone.

Why do I know this? I am Charlie and Rose's granddaughter; the one who runs the facebook page. And yes, I know the recipe.

To "boo"...she doesn't know the recipe - and she's most DEFINITELY not dating my cousin anymore.

Richard - if you still want info, email me at musicastherapy1 at gmail

I would cut class in 1971 at CI and have a hot dog. Love love it. Now I want to make it and would love the recipe. My brothers and friends all have fond memories of Rosie's hot dogs. Yum miss you

The real onion recipe is now being sold by the Original owner that created the recipe and shared it with Charlie and Rose in 1963. www.carolinespushcartonions.com is where you could order them and enjoy the famous recipe that my mom created. Caroline was Rose's sister and Charlie and her had a recipe contest in the beginning and hands down Charlie and Caroline decided the recipe Caroline made would be the one served on the hot dog truck. Unfortunately through bad business practices and tax evasion the Summa family had to close the stand. My moms recipe is now being manufactured by the FDA and you can now enjoy it again.

Looks like The "Onions" Recipe will never be known....That's to bad. Some people will never know the joy of that taste. Please people. It was a hotdog with onions. What is the family holding on to the recipe for? A legend?? Keep your memories, cause that's all your going to get. And as far as the person claiming to date one of the grandsons, we have heard from the family that even the grandchildren don't have the privilege of having the recipe. That statement is on their FB page...
I remember Charley’s
They were the best my late husband Jimmy Hoey took me there . We got there and his aunt Virginia was there ! Such a nice hot dog stand. Does anyone know the Italian family in Brentwood who had a stand for years?

This is the true story. Charlie just stole the onion recipe and passed it off as his own
