There has never been a hot dog stand that could even come close to Charlie's. They were the best ever. My son and I will surely miss them.

I grew up around the corner from Charlies hot dogs. Initially, charlie had a stand across spur DR. south from where his house now stands. My first job at 9 years old was cleaning up around his stand for a Hot Dog and a Yoo-hoo. Over the years, it became a ritual to go to to Charlies for a hot-dog hero with mustard and onions and a Yoo-hoo. Even after moving off LI, my first place to go when I returned was Charlies. I recently returned, went and saw the "for sale" sign and no Charlies. What happened? The absolute, bar none best hot-dogs in existance. I guess you really can't go home. Anyway, there are the t-shirts and the memories. If Charlies family reads this site- RECONSIDER. Please.

I met 1 of Charlie's daughter's in the late 70's from my cb radio. She was 1 of the nicest careing people on the planet. Her family was very traditional in all aspects of life. I miss that old fashioned tradition style of hot dogs, they were the best hot dogs in NY. You can not find any other hot dog like the ones we used to enjoy. To the whole family Thank You for the best youthful years of my life. We all miss you Charlie

I DON'T BELIEVE THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE SHOP AND LEAVE; I THINK THAT THE STUPID POLITICIANS A THE TOWN OF ISLIP REUSED TO RENEW THIER PERMIT. SO MUCH FOR "HELPING THE SMALL BUSINESSMAN" I WISH I COULD GET THE RECEIPE FOR THOSE AWESOME ONIONS!!!!

I owned a furniture store in Holbrook for six years and I would stop at Charlies twice a week with my delivery guys... best hot dogs and onions ever!!! On Saturdays I would stop and pick up hot dogs in their to-go containers for all of our salespeople. I now live in Florida and would be very interested in knowing where a Florida "Charlie's" would be located... Let us know Boo!

Looks like The "Onions" Recipe will never be known....That's to bad. Some people will never know the joy of that taste. Please people. It was a hotdog with onions. What is the family holding on to the recipe for? A legend?? Keep your memories, cause that's all your going to get. And as far as the person claiming to date one of the grandsons, we have heard from the family that even the grandchildren don't have the privilege of having the recipe. That statement is on their FB page...
