This has nothing to do with representaation and everything to do with each party. Neither party is in the right on this one. I think Mass needs another John Adams.

I always thought it ironic that the democrats are the most anti-democracy group of people in our society.

Changing the law to prevent Republican Gov. Mitt Romney from appointing a Republican senator worked for the democrats in 2004. So now that the law does not work in the democrats favor, change it again. Not surprised by the democrats in the least. They will suffer the voters wrath in 2010!

Republicans are a bunch of crybabies! Guaranteed, if they were in power, they'd pull the same tricks! Get over it Republicans...you lost the election in 08 because of your choice to lead the country...and his running mate from the middle of nowhere Alaska!

if there's a nigh road, and a low road, the GOP will pick the low road and start a smear campaign to boot every time. every. single. time. and wave their hands and gasp, "it's those Texas millionnaires, we can't control 'em."

Using the same logic, should Tim Pawlenty have
declared the lack of representation during our
recount an emergency and appoint someone?
Remember, at the time Al Franken was the 60th vote.

The only emergency is for 90 days the Democrats
wouldn't have had the 60 votes to stop a filibuster. But then any group that makes up the
rules as they go can make up a definition of
"emergency" to fit the circumstances.

As the poet once said, it is to laugh.

If the GOP is picking the low road, then there is no high road - just a lower road. I'd like to hear the logic that explains how ethical the Dems of MA are and especially their memorialized leader, Ted Kennedy. It ought to be good for a few laughs.

If the Dems weren't crybabies, they'd accept the law as it is and go with it. I'll give you credit for one thing, though -- admitting that the Dems are playing tricks.

Why is it that Michael Falcone of POLITICO fails to mention the hypocrisy of the democrats changing the law one way, then the other, based on whether or not they control the governor's office? This story shouldn't be about what the republicans are doing, it should be about what the democrats did and the history of it. Time to do some real reporting.

Rubbish. Republicans believe in the rule of law. Democrats believe in raw power.

Mitch McConnell gave the Mass. liberals some good 12 Step-style advice: Step 1 -- Admit you're sleazes who are powerless to act ethically.

"What the ... totally Democratic controlled Massachusetts state government should have done is just to be honest about it," Mitch McConnell said. "They should have written a law this way: If there's a Republican governor, there's no appointment. And if there's a Democratic governor, there is an appointment."
